<p>The Syracuse University Office of Research seeks a Research Administration Analyst to support research and creative activities in the arts and humanities. As a key member of the Research Services team, the Research Administration Analyst for the Arts and Humanities is responsible for pre- and post-award departmental research administration for faculty in arts and humanities disciplines across campus as they secure and utilize funding for research and scholarly work. Reporting to the Director of Research Services, with a dotted-line relationship to the Director of Research Development for the Arts and Humanities, the analyst will partner with principal investigators/project directors (PI/PDs), divisional finance and administration teams, and other campus units to facilitate administrative operations throughout award lifecycles, ensuring both compliance and efficiency.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required. </li><li>Four (4) plus years of experience in grants management or research/sponsored programs administration in an academic or similar environment required; budget or financial analysis experience required; some exposure to proposal development or grant-writing preferred. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Experience with PeopleSoft, Tableau, or other integrated financial systems highly preferred; ability to use multiple technical data sources to produce tools and reports required. </li><li>Strong analytical background in budget development and financial planning, with expertise in creating detailed projections. </li><li>Knowledge of federal and non-federal sponsor guidelines, compliance requirements, and financial principles (e.g., Uniform Guidance) preferred. </li><li>Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities independently. </li><li>Exceptional communication skills and collaborative mindset, with proven ability to work effectively with individuals across diverse backgrounds and organizational roles. </li><li>Proactive problem-solver with strong critical-thinking skills and ability to identify and resolve potential challenges before they arise. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Manage post-award administration of sponsored projects, collaborating with project directors/principal investigators (PD/PIs), division finance and administration teams, the Office of Research, and other campus units. </li><li>Initiate project start-up including facilitating new-award meetings, confirming assurances of compliance, preparing sub award documents, and coordinating staffing. </li><li>Monitor regulatory compliance of sponsored projects with the Office of Research Integrity and Protections. </li><li>Monitor schedules for sponsor-required reporting, including progress reports and final reports, and assist in completing reports as necessary. </li><li>Assist division finance and administration teams with post-award fiscal activities such as invoicing, reconciliation, and travel/expense reimbursement as needed. </li><li>Analyze funded projects and complete monthly budget-to-actual expenditure summary reports; communicate reports and findings to PD/PIs, providing the opportunity for timely project/budget modifications. </li><li>Schedule and facilitate quarterly meetings with PD/PIs to review expenditure summary report and perform long-range forecasting to ensure effort distributions and expenditures are appropriate and on schedule. </li><li>Prepare non-financial documents, such as budget modifications, amendments, and no-cost extensions. </li><li>Manage pre-award administration processes to develop and submit proposals for external funding, collaborating with PD/PIs, division finance and administration teams, the Office of Research, and other campus units; ensure complete and on-time submission. </li><li>Interpret sponsor guidelines and University policies for the PD/PI/project team; maintain knowledge of existing laws, policies, and procedures necessary to comply with Federal, State, University, and sponsor regulations concerning grants and contracts. </li><li>Develop project budgets considering sponsor and University policies, including coordinating across schools and colleges and across institutions to support collaborative projects; provide PD/PIs with advice on budget allowances and restrictions, direct and indirect cost rates, and other budgetary issues based on sponsor guidelines and University policies. </li><li>Prepare applications components, ensuring compliance with sponsor guidelines; navigate sponsor submission systems. </li><li>Prepare, route, and submit internal documentation, including SU budget template, subrecipient commitment forms, waivers/prior approvals as applicable, and SU Internal Routing and Review (IRR) form. </li><li>Continuously develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of funder rules and regulations that govern research grants and contracts; stay informed about sponsor terms and conditions for submitting and administering grant awards as well as University policies and procedures. </li><li>Participate in professional development activities, including on-campus training, meetings and workshops; webinars and self-paced learning modules; and professional conferences. </li><li>Collaborate with departmental research administrators and central Office of Research staff to enhance proposal development processes and implement grants management best practices. </li><li>Provide support for division and campus-wide endeavors to enhance research and creative activities in the arts and humanities. </li><li>Provide programmatic assistance for trainings, workshops, and other events. </li><li>Participates in Office of Research, College of Arts and Sciences, and Humanities Center meetings and events, including staff and committee meetings and research seminars and speaker series. </li><li>Other position-related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.</p>
