<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Title: Behavioral Health Technician I</p> <p>Company: Adult & Child Health</p> <p>Location: Indianapolis/Greenwood</p> <p>Employment Type: Full-Time, 3rd Shift</p> <p>$3,000 sign on bonus!</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Behavioral Health Technician I provides direct, supportive, and compassionate care to clients across a variety of settings. This role contributes to daily client supervision, crisis intervention, health monitoring, and the facilitation of structured therapeutic or educational activities. Behavioral Health Technicians ensure a safe, trauma-informed, and therapeutic environment while implementing client treatment plans and documenting observations essential to client progress.</p> Management</p> <ul> <li> <p>Admit, monitor, supervise, transfer, and discharge clients/patients.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor vital signs and withdrawal symptoms; escalate to medical staff when critical symptoms present.</p> </li><li> <p>Obtain and document vital signs and medical symptoms per policy or provider instruction.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee medication administration following program policies and within permitted training/scope.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate medication records including self-administration or staff administration.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor, document, and inventory over-the-counter (OTC) medications.</p> </li><li> <p>Document blood glucose levels when applicable and maintain agency-approved equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Report medication errors or discrepancies per agency policy.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow Medication Storage & Destruction procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct safety and supervision checks as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Illinois only: Participate in on-call rotation for shift coverage.</p> </li></ul> <p>Residential Care Facility (RCF)</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist clients with personal care needs (bathing, grooming, dressing, etc.).</p> </li><li> <p>Perform all duties listed under Residential Facility responsibilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure medication practices follow training and physician orders.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and document vital signs and critical health symptoms.</p> </li></ul> <p>All Locations</p> <ul> <li> <p>Promote adherence to program expectations using trauma-informed approaches; promptly communicate concerns to the treatment team.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively participate in treatment planning by identifying client strengths, needs, and preferences.</p> </li><li> <p>Document exceptional behaviors, safety concerns, and shift change information accurately.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with client orientation including rights review, vital signs, safety searches, and specimen collection.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate urine collection, testing, lab-send-offs, and documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Answer phones, take messages, and respond to crisis calls professionally.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist, educate, and redirect clients regarding daily living activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and document client activity including bed checks during overnight shifts.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure client attendance and participation in scheduled activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Model positive behavior and solution-focused problem-solving.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure compliance with precaution protocols and related documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Observe and communicate health concerns promptly to supervisors or treatment teams.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare for and facilitate group sessions (rehabilitative support, education, recovery skills, recreation).</p> </li><li> <p>Provide transportation to appointments as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a clean and safe environment through consistent housekeeping practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Report maintenance and safety hazards promptly.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow all program policies, procedures, and organizational code of conduct.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend required staff meetings and trainings.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrate commitment to organizational goals and mission.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Understanding of confidentiality requirements for behavioral health and substance use treatment.</p> </li><li> <p>Effective verbal and written communication skills, including clear and concise documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.</p> </li><li> <p>Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to write routine reports and professional correspondence.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with clients, families, and community partners.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to follow instructions delivered verbally, in writing, or diagram form.</p> </li><li> <p>Basic keyboarding skills and proficiency navigating electronic medical records.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to solve problems with multiple variables in structured situations.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to build rapport while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.</p> </li></ul> <p>Experience and Education Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of responsible employment required;</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in human services preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Requirements</p> <ul> <li>None </li></ul> <p>Employment Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Successful completion of background check including criminal, driving, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint clearances.</p> </li><li> <p>Completion of New Hire Orientation and all required annual trainings (including Relias).</p> </li><li> <p>Current driver's license, acceptable driving record, and active auto insurance.</p> </li><li> <p>First Aid certification within 3 months of hire.</p> </li><li> <p>CPR certification within 3 months of hire.</p> </li><li> <p>Medication Administration training per program standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Behavioral Management training within required timeframes:</p> </li><li> <p>CPI for Residential programs</p> </li><li> <p>Crisis Management via Relias for Outpatient programs</p> </li><li> <p>Completion of required 36 hours of training within two years and 40 hours annually ongoing.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of program-specific policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Age requirements for operating company vehicles:</p> </li><li> <p>21+ for standard vehicles</p> </li><li> <p>23+ for 15-passenger vans</p> </li><li> <p>Adolescent program: Must complete specialized youth-behavior training within 6 months (communication, trauma, abuse, peer pressure, etc.).</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>ADA Consideration - Sedentary Work</p> <ul> <li> <p>Exert up to 10 pounds occasionally or negligible weight frequently.</p> </li><li> <p>Frequent hand, finger, and arm movements for writing and typing.</p> </li><li> <p>Primarily seated work with occasional standing or walking.</p>
