<p>Job Summary</p> <p>Demonstrate advanced clinical skills to meet the needs of patient groups; formulate plans of care that have long range effect on patient care; assist unit staff members to perform advanced skills; act as a role model which facilitates positive behavior in dynamic group setting; recognize need for change in nursing practice and initiate change process on unit; proactive to identify potential legal/ethical issues and implement strategies to prevent problems. (Proficient)</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Patient Care: Demonstrates consistent use of nursing process in daily practice and manages more complex patients. </li><li>Knowledge and Skills: Identifies personal learning needs, assists other staff members in identifying learning needs and develops corrective action plan; demonstrates proficiency in advanced skills; assists others to use the teaching/learning process. </li><li>Professional Relationships/Leadership: Performs as an effective group leader and evaluates group process at unit level; assists others in developing group process skills </li><li>Quality Improvement/Research: Assists nursing peers to develop an appreciation of nursing research. Utilizes nursing research to improve nursing care and patient outcomes. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</p> <p>Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact)</p> <p>The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.
