<p>Job Title:OB Safety Officer</p> <p>Location:Cooperman Barnabas Medical Ctr</p> <p>Department Name:OB Support Center</p> <p>Req #:0000204440</p> <p>Status:Salaried</p> <p>Shift:Day</p> <p>Pay Range: $112,000.00 - $122,500.00, Annual</p> <p>Pay Transparency:</p> <p>The above reflects the anticipated annual salary range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.</p> <p>The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.</p> <p>Job Title: OB Safety Officer</p> <p>Department Name: OB Support</p> <p>Reports To: SVP of OB services</p> <p>Salary Grade: FLSA Status:</p> <p>Job Overview:</p> <p>The OB Safety Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, directing and/or evaluating patient safety and quality improvement to ensure the highest level of performance is achieved. The OB Safety Officer collaborates with the Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager, Nursing Education, and Research Department. They develop unit goals and keep abreast of current trends, based on the current healthcare environment. Serves as a resource for staff and other colleagues.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Graduate of an accredited school of nursing </li><li>Minimum of 3 5 years acute nursing experience with one year of nursing department experience </li><li>Strong L&D experience </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Organizational ability </li><li>Nurse management and leadership skills </li><li>Demonstrated clinical expertise in area standards </li><li>Successful completion of all Orientation Programs </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science in Nursing </li></ul> <p>Certifications and Licenses Required:</p> <ul> <li>Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of NJ </li><li>BLS from the American Heart Association </li><li>NRP certification from the American Heart Association </li></ul> <p>Scheduling Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>FT </li><li>Day shift </li><li>37.5 hours weekly </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinates departmental safety assessment and process improvement in the obstetrical service in conjunction with the nursing staff, medical residents, physicians, Nurse Managers and the Director of Nursing </li><li>Evaluates the practice of all staff in Labor and Delivery Operating Rooms by developing and implementing an audit process for OR sterility, temp and humidity, time out procedures, attire and takes an active role in assuring best practice standards are met </li><li>Identifies staff educational needs and provides educational opportunities in collaboration with the Obstetrical Nurse Educator, nursing leadership team, OB resident coordinator, OB Resident Director and OB Chairman </li><li>Performs chart audits for perinatal harm, less than 39 week inductions, steroids for deliveries 24-34 weeks, elective induction and Pitocin augmentation, vacuum deliveries and hypertensive crisis </li><li>Implement Process Improvement to maintain supplies and equipment throughout the OB department related to OB emergencies </li><li>Conducts interdepartmental rounds to identify and rectify safety concerns </li><li>Facilitates discussions of safety concerns after OB emergencies by implementing interdisciplinary debrief process </li><li>Coordinates on unit simulation drills </li><li>Covers the Obstetrical services as needed </li></ul> <p>Other Duties:</p> <p>Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
