<p>Responsible for leading, managing, developing, supervising, and evaluating all aspects of patient care for the assigned area;</p> <p>manage and collaborate relationships with leadership and physicians regarding the care of responsible patient populations;</p> <p>assure professional, clinical, and educational excellence in the provision of quality care to patients; facilitate empowerment of</p> <p>staff in the implementation of creative and innovative patient care delivery models and stimulate a collaborative</p> <p>multidisciplinary team approach in the continuous improvement of patient care services; responsible for fiscal management of</p> <p>the unit; direct the recruitment, screening, selection, hiring, and dismissal process of the unit staff; oversee the orientat ion</p> <p>process of front line leaders and bedside staff in conjunction with the CNS or Unit Educator; develop and direct a high</p> <p>functioning and healthy work environment applying healthy work environment principles and conflict resolution techniques;</p> <p>maximize front line leader and employee participation and accountability for decision making; facilitate, measure and implement</p> <p>strategies to maximize employee and team satisfaction; focus on staff development and career enrichment; manage continuous</p> <p>feedback, the use of grievance and disciplinary processes, and the formal evaluation process of staff in the areas of</p> <p>responsibility; effectively communicate and coordinate appropriate activities with other hospital and corporate departments,</p> <p>including Human Resources, QA, Legal, Finance, Payroll, other business units, and medical staff; build effective and respectful</p> <p>working relationships with peers and promotes optimal communication and collaboration through regular contact with the</p> <p>Medical, Administrative and Nursing Staff; support and practice the Leadership Standards of Excellence; assume 24 hour</p> <p>responsibility for the administrative management of designated patient care areas; develop and organize committees; oversee all</p> <p>committee activities and maintain communication and collaboration with all committee chairpersons; coordinate with the patient</p> <p>care team to maximize patient satisfaction; manage the development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of policies</p> <p>and procedures that assure professional and clinical excellence in the provision of quality care to patients; access and utilize</p> <p>appropriate data in order to monitor unit operations and develop action plans for identified areas of improvement; manage and</p> <p>implement ongoing evaluation processes to assure compliance with regulatory agency standards and an environment of safety;</p> <p>acts as a member of a care management team by assisting in the development, implementation and monitoring the nursing</p> <p>process with patients and families; develop, implement, and evaluate goals for each patient care service which support</p> <p>department, hospital and system goals; facilitate, coach, and empower staff in the continuous improvement of patient care</p> <p>services within each patient care area/service; utilize and apply knowledge of clinical practice guidelines, process improvement</p> <p>initiatives, patient/family education support, patient assessment techniques, medication management/quality management</p> <p>systems, quality improvement project management, neurosurgical care, clinical nurse educator/instructor support, nursing</p> <p>preceptor/mentor support, interdisciplinary hospital committee activities, stroke/seizures care procedures, and spinal surgery</p> <p>care to perform assigned duties; manage and ensure documented compliance with educational and regulatory compliance</p> <p>measures; manage, investigate and implement strategies for resolution of documented quality and safety issues; utilize</p> <p>stakeholders in assigned area to create and develop a shared vision and culture consistent with nursing organizational and</p> <p>renewal principles; collaborates with the unit CNS and directs the unit educators to plan, implement, and evaluate on-going unit</p> <p>educational programs; actively support the recruitment of new staff in collaboration with Human Resources; complete specific</p> <p>and on-going mandatory and developmental leadership learning opportunities both within and outside of the Henry Ford</p> <p>System; represent organizational and department at all appropriate local, state, and national professional meetings; develop and</p> <p>implement operational and capital budget in collaboration with the appropriate medical staff, Nursing Administrator, and Vice</p> <p>President and Chief Nursing Officer; manage and assure department finance goals consistent with budgeted projections, and</p> <p>explain unforeseen variances; and maintain awareness and responsibility for divisional and global budgets and resource</p> <p>allocations for safe and optimal patient care.</p> <p>Location: 2799 W. Grand Blvd., Detroit, Michigan, 48202.</p> <p>"DNS"</p> <p>#LI-DNI"</p> <p>Education: Bachelors in Nursing, Nursing Administration, or a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree);</p> <p>Training: None.</p> <p>Experience: Two (2) years in the position above, as a Charge Nurse, as a Nurse Leader, as an Assistant Clinical Manager, as a</p> <p>Clinical Educator - Nursing, as a Registered Nurse, as a Care and Transitions Facilitator, or in a related occupation;</p> <p>Other Requirements: Experience must include two (2) years use of all the following: clinical practice guidelines, process</p> <p>improvement initiatives, patient/family education support, patient assessment techniques, medication management/quality</p> <p>management systems, quality improvement project management, neurosurgical care, clinical nurse educator/instructor</p> <p>support, nursing preceptor/mentor support, interdisciplinary hospital committee activities, stroke/seizures care procedures,</p> <p>and spinal surgery care; and must possess valid State of Michigan Nursing license.</p> <p>Will also accept any suitable combination of education, training and/or experience.</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <ul> <li>Organization: Henry Ford Hospital - Detroit Main Campus </li><li>Department: B5 </li><li>Shift: Day Job </li><li>Union Code: Not Applicable </li></ul>
