<p>Literacy Interventionist, Grades 6-8 JobID: 849</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Middle School Teaching/Interventionist</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>5/7/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Woodbury Middle School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>08/21/2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>05/09/2025</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Region 14 Vacancy</p> <p>POSITION: Literacy Interventionist, Grades 6-8</p> <p>LOCATION: Woodbury Middle School</p> <p>START DATE: 8/26/25 with New Faculty Orientation on 8/21 and 8/22/25</p> <p>DEADLINE DATE: May 9, 2025</p> <p>PRIMARY FUNCTION:</p> <p>The Literacy Interventionist will provide additional literacy support in Region 14's middle school both in the classroom and in small group and individual settings based on student needs as indicated by data.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Middle grades or secondary English (015, 215), Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts (102), or Reading and Language Arts Consultant (097) certification required\ </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li>Deep understanding of foundational literacy skills and ability to develop students' proficiency in reading and writing </li><li>Ability to connect with students and identify their needs to work with them individually and in small groups </li><li>Ability to collaborate effectively with other educators in the same classroom to support students in the tier 1 environment </li></ul> <p>WORK YEAR: According to the teachers' contract</p> <p>MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provide targeted instruction for students needing tiered support in literacy/English Language Arts </li><li>Assess student performance and monitor student progress using course-aligned materials and supplemental resources </li><li>Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents in understanding and meeting the needs of students in the school setting </li><li>Perform additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment and certification </li><li>Consult and collaborate with stakeholders and develop and support a safe school climate </li><li>Utilize differentiated instructional strategies to develop students' literacy skills </li><li>Collaborate with teaching colleagues on grade level teams and subject area teams </li><li>Demonstrate willingness to seek and act on feedback from instructional leaders, colleagues, and administrators </li><li>Evaluate student needs based on data and employ a variety of instructional strategies to meet these needs </li><li>Participate in professional learning opportunities provided by the district and incorporate new learning into instructional practices </li></ul> <p>UNION AFFILIATION: Nonnewaug Teacher's Union</p> <p>SALARY: Per teacher contract</p> <p>APPLY ONLINE:</p> <p>Letter of interest</p> <p>Resume</p> <p>3 letters of reference</p> <p>Transcripts</p> <p>Certificate</p> <p>Wendy J.
