Other duties may be assigned</p> <ul> <li> <p>Instructs participants on the fundamentals of ice skating and hockey in a safe, friendly and professional manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Based on experience, instructors may teach any one in any one of the following tracts:</p> </li><li> <p>Beginning level skating</p> </li><li> <p>Beginning level hockey</p> </li><li> <p>Recreational skating</p> </li><li> <p>Intermediate level hockey</p> </li><li> <p>Figure skating lessons</p> </li><li> <p>Adult skate lessons</p> </li><li> <p>Communicates with participants at all times, providing regular feedback on participant performance.</p> </li><li> <p>Tracks progress and completes participant report cards.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains open communication lines with Skating and Hockey Programmer & Director regarding participant progress</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with any special events taking place within the Ice Facilities (i.e. public skate lessons, set-up/tear down based on event needs)</p> </li><li> <p>Assists as needed at registration table prior to the beginning of each lesson.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize the Rockford Park District's HRIS system for all HR and payroll-related requirements and to accurately clock in and out for all shifts.</p> </li><li> <p>Follows all facility and operational safety precautions.</p> </li><li> <p>Attends all regularly scheduled staff meetings</p> </li><li> <p>Performs all other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education/Experience</p> <p>Some experience on Ice preferred</p> <p>Critical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must be at least 14 years of age (with worker's permit).</p> </li><li> <p>Must be comfortable on and around the ice when in skates.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to commit 10-20 hours per week (varies based on season). Schedule will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.</p> </li><li> <p>Must enjoy working with children and adults.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have good communication skills in order to interact with participants and co-workers.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to problem solve in a variety of situations.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
