Do you have commercial/industrial operation and maintenance experience with HVAC or boiler equipment? Central New York Psychiatric Center is recruiting for a Plant Utilities Engineer 1 for their physical plant operations. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.</p> <p>As a Plant Utilities Engineer 1, you will be responsible for a variety of maintenance and repair tasks including:</p> <ul> <li>Operating, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and mechanical equipment inside and outside the physical plant equipment </li><li>Cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining boilers </li><li>Responding to mechanical, electrical, or plumbing calls and troubleshooting necessary repairs </li><li>Conducting boiler, HVAC, and water systems testing, analyzing results, and adjusting chemicals as needed </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program as a Plant Utilities Engineer 1 if they have one of the qualifications listed:</p> <ul> <li>Graduate of heating, HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration apprenticeship program from the U.S. Air Force; or </li><li>Enlisted machinery technician (MK) with the U.S. Coast Guard or possession of a certificate as a Marine Engineer issued by the U.S. Coast Guard; or </li><li>Enlisted power generation equipment repairer with the U.S. Army; or </li><li>Enlisted gas turbine systems technician, submarine nuclear propulsion plant operator reactor control, utilities man, machinist mate, or engineman with the U.S. Navy; or </li><li>Merchant Mariner's Document (MMD) and qualified member of the engine department (QMED) as an oiler, fireman/water tender, refrigerating engineer or engineman with the U.S. Merchant Marine; or </li><li>Completion of a New York State Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program for stationary engineers, plant maintenance (plumber/steamfitter), HVAC Mechanic or plant maintenance (refrigeration/AC); or </li><li>Possession of a High-Pressure Boiler Operating Engineer License or Stationary Engineer License; or </li><li>Bachelor's degree in Facilities Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Marine Engineering; or </li><li>4 years of full-time hands on experience in the maintenance and operation of commercial, industrial, institutional facility, computer applications of digital energy platforms and building analytics and/or performing diagnosis, repair of HVAC systems or boilers or auxiliary equipment; or </li><li>4 years of full-time hands on experience in a residential setting performing diagnosis, operation, maintenance repair of HVAC systems or boilers or auxiliary equipment; or </li><li>Associate's degree in HVAC and 2 years of full-time hands on experience in the maintenance and operation of commercial, industrial, institutional facility, computer applications of digital energy platforms and building analytics and/or performing diagnosis, repair of HVAC systems or boilers or auxiliary equipment; or 2 years of full-time hands on experience in a residential setting performing diagnosis, operation, maintenance repair of HVAC systems or boilers or auxiliary equipment; or </li><li>Completion of an HVAC certificate or diploma from a BOCES program (900 hours) OR completion of an approved certificate in HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, boiler operations and maintenance, or plumbing from an accredited technical school or technology college and 2 years of full-time hands on experience in the maintenance and operation of commercial, industrial, institutional facility, computer applications of digital energy platforms and building analytics and/or performing diagnosis, repair of HVAC systems or boilers or auxiliary equipment; or 2 years of full-time hands on experience in a residential setting performing diagnosis, operation, maintenance repair of HVAC systems or boilers or auxiliary equipment. </li></ul> <p>OR</p> <p>Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.</p> <p>Additional Comments All OMH employees receive a generous benefits package including:</p> <ul> <li>NYS medical, dental, and vision insurance </li><li>Access to tuition assistance programs </li><li>Paid time off - 13 paid vacation days in the first year, 5 paid personal days, 13 paid holidays, & paid sick leave </li><li>NYS Retirement programs </li></ul> <p>A background check will be required.</p> <p>Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.</p> <p>Name Human Resources</p> <p>Telephone</p> <p>Fax 315-765-3369</p> <p>Email Address cnpersonnel@omh.ny.gov</p> <p>Address</p> <p>Street Central New York Psychiatric Center</p> <p>PO Box 300</p> <p>City Marcy</p> <p>State NY</p> <p>Zip Code 13403</p> <p>Notes on ApplyingPlease indicate the Title, Vacancy ID # and Location of the position you are applying for in the subject line of your email or fax.
