<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Bureau Director position serves as a member of the Division of Agricultural Development management team and participates in strategic planning, setting overall Division and Bureau direction and policies, and assisting in decision-making processes. This position oversees and directs the staff responsible for program planning, development, and implementation of the Wisconsin International Agribusiness Center and the Economic and Innovation Center programs and policies. The position is also responsible for policy development, oversight of program funding, development and management of grants, budget management and analysis pertaining to bureau operations.</p> <p>This position has significant responsibilities related to market development outreach activities such as participating in public forums, as well as providing informational and technical materials regarding program opportunities. The position is responsible for developing international trade and marketing strategies, as well as building relationships to promote Wisconsin agricultural business development efforts. The position manages economic development consultants who identify agribusiness companies and/or cooperatives that are interested in expanding their business opportunities and provide them with market development consultation services in order to expand food and agricultural sales.</p> <p>The position provides the primary back-up support to the Administrator in areas related to international trade, domestic agribusiness development and economic development programs, as well as liaison activities as assigned.</p> <p>For more information, please review the full position description.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>The classification for this position is Administrative Manager which is in schedule-range 81-01 with starting pay between $53.00 - $58.13 per hour based on qualifications. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan at the time of hire. A 24-month career executive probationary period is required.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.</p> <p>A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.</p> <p>Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license or the ability to provide one's own transportation for work purposes is required.</p> <p>Occasional travel (10-20%) within the State of Wisconsin, out of state, and internationally for meetings, conferences, and trade missions is required.</p> <p>Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport and other required documentation for international travel.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimally qualified candidates must have each of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in international trade, marketing, or business development in roles in such as sales, or product development, for an organization with international reach or partners in other countries. </li><li>Experience supervising staff and personnel issues, such as coaching, goal setting, performance evaluation, recruitment, and employee discipline in a professional setting. </li><li>Experience with state or federally funded grants and reporting requirements including administration, awarding and presentations to stakeholders. </li><li>Experience researching, analyzing, and presenting topics on international markets, economic data, or export data to stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>In addition to the minimum qualifications above, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience marketing agricultural or food products to international customers (i.e. food ingredients, feed, livestock, genetics, etc.). </li><li>Experience supervising staff that supervise other staff. </li><li>Experience traveling internationally for work-related business assignments. </li><li>Experience developing programs and policies including analysis, implementation, and recommendations. </li></ul> <p>It is critically important your application materials clearly describe your experience related to the stated criteria.
