Marshall!</p> <p>Position Information</p> <p>Position Title Area Coordinator/Residence Life Banner Position Number 001285 E-Class NC - Nonclassified - .53 or > Department Housing Auxiliary - MU5400 Job Description</p> <p>Marshall University's Department of Housing and Residence Life seeks outgoing,energetic, and skilled applicants for a full-time, 12 month live-in professional responsiblefor one of three residential living communities at Marshall University. Each communityhouses between 250-675 students. Area Coordinators are responsible for the dailyadministration of their community and direct supervision of a team of 6-28 ResidentAdvisors and 1 Assistant Area Coordinator</p> <p>General Responsibilities</p> <p>Supervision and Staff Development</p> <ul> <li>Supervise Resident Advisors and an Assistant Area Coordinator and conductsindividual meetings, bi-annual evaluations, etc. </li><li>Contribute and encourage the development of positive working relationships withall residence life staff. </li><li>Attend and organize weekly staff meetings with building staff and/or departmentalstaff </li><li>Assist with selecting, training, development and in-service activities for theparaprofessional staff. </li><li>Assist with coordination of fall & spring training as well as ongoing personal andprofessional staff development opportunities. </li></ul> <p>Coordinate one of the following over the summer months</p> <ul> <li>Summer Area Coordinator </li><li>Summer Conferences </li></ul> <p>Coordinate one of the three following collaterals</p> <p>Student Staff Training</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate schedule completions and distribution, confirmation of speakers, foodorders, theme, t-shirts development and distribution, evening activities </li><li>Oversees speaker(s) and room reservation, training meals and food purchases,material requests for Staff training </li><li>Oversees supplemental training of fall sessions that won't fit into spring trainingfor new staff </li></ul> <p>Student Staff Selection</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate advertisement, interview schedule, interview questions, applicationcreation, communication with applicants, training staff on interviewing, preinterview application assessment (conduct and grade check) </li><li>Creates marketing strategies and theme for each selection process. </li><li>Update letters pertinent to student staff selection in E Rez Life </li><li>Create post analytics regarding applicant scores to guide hiring </li><li>Set up selection meetings for hiring </li></ul> <p>Student Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Mentor and be available to student leaders through </li><li>RHA </li><li>and </li><li>NRHH </li><li>Coordinate Student Leadership campus wide fundraiser through Campus Cube </li><li>Serve as senior advisor to Residence Hall Association executive board </li><li>Serve as senior advisor to National Residence Hall Honorary chapter </li><li>Oversee participation and organizing of student leadership conferences </li><li>Plan and Facilitate the annual Housing and Residence Life Banquet </li></ul> <p>Student and Community Development</p> <ul> <li>Create and promote a caring atmosphere conducive to student learning,academic success, and to the personal development of residence hall students. </li><li>Promote an atmosphere that emphasizes Marshall's values (academicachievement, personal freedom & integrity, dignity and respect for the individual,diversity and inclusiveness, sustainability, and service). </li><li>Work with Assistant Area Coordinators to assess effectiveness of hall traditions &learning outcomes. </li><li>Encourage behavior that demonstrates professionalism, role modeling, andpositive communication. </li><li>Maintain a high level of residence hall visibility and interaction </li><li>Implement and manage residential curriculum and learning outcomes incommunity. </li><li>Develop and maintain a positive and mutually supportive working relationship withall campus offices. </li><li>Facilitate and implement academic initiatives such as collaboration with faculty,promoting study groups and tutoring, working with relevant MU MarshallUniversity academic offices. </li><li>Advise and counsel individual students, making referrals when needed. </li><li>Assist in the management of student behavior through conduct sanctioning andstudent advising. </li><li>Hear, adjudicate, and mediate student housing conduct process. </li><li>Facilitate roommate mediation process within your assigned community. </li><li>Assist with university and housing recruitment, orientation, and retention efforts. </li></ul> <p>Administrative/Management</p> <ul> <li>Implement goals and objectives that are consistent with those of the Departmentof Housing and Residence Life. </li><li>Responsible for facility management, housing operations, and all housingprocesses in your community. </li><li>Serve on an on-call duty coverage rotation and responds to emergency or non-emergency situations for campus community on nights, weekdays, weekends andholidays. </li><li>Maintain office hours (as set by your supervisor) and uphold high degree ofavailability and visibility for all residents. </li><li>Oversee residence hall desk operations </li><li>Effectively manage area and committee budgets, as well as conduct allpurchasing for hall activities in accordance with state purchasing expectations </li><li>Exhibit effective time management strategies and excellence in executing tasks. </li><li>Ability to take tasks and work independently and with accuracy. </li><li>Work with confidence and maturity; and understands confidentiality withinappropriate settings. </li><li>Participate in department initiatives such as strategic planning, retentioninitiatives, departmental programming, Housing Sign-ups, Week of Welcome,Opening and Closing of residence halls. </li><li>Work collaboratively with others in the department, division, Student Affairs anduniversity. </li><li>Enforce University and departmental policies and procedures. </li><li>Understand there will be other duties as assigned by supervisors. </li></ul> <p>Salary Range $40,000-$45,000 - Salary is commensurate with experience and
