<p>This open competitive position within the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of a network dedicated to all transit-related initiatives under the Choose How You Move Program (CHYM). This includes identifying/leading the resolution of problems, performance monitoring, etc. This position is expected to demonstrate advanced knowledge and proficiency in the maintenance and management of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), including traffic signal networking, connected vehicle technology, and transit communication networks. </p> <p>ITS is a 24x7 information technology shop. Applicant must be willing and available to perform duties as required by the job. This may include work on nights, weekends and holidays.</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for the design, implementation, and support of a network dedicated to all transit-related initiatives under the Choose How You Move Program, including advanced traffic signal controllers, adaptive signal control, and transit signal priority (TSP) systems. </li><li>Communicating complex technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences. </li><li>Analyzing complex information and scenarios to solve difficult problems. </li><li>Demonstrate understanding of network concepts such as IP addressing, advanced routing protocols, and complex configuration processes. </li><li>Demonstrate a working knowledge of ITS networking and communication protocols, including National Transportation Communications for Intelligent Transportation System Protocol (NTCIP) standards for traffic control devices. </li><li>Familiarity with Fiber optic and wireless communication networks used in traffic management systems. </li><li>Responsible for configuration and troubleshooting of networked traffic signal controllers, including adaptive and coordinated signal timing systems. </li><li>Demonstrate awareness of security best practices for transportation and critical infrastructure networks. </li><li>Providing network resiliency strategies for real-time transportation data transmission. </li></ul> <p>Six (6) years of experience in networking services with demonstrated experience using Cisco products, enterprise networking environment, and network performance monitoring tools, including software defined networking. </p> <ul> <li>No Substitutions* </li><li>Resume must be included with application to ensure consideration* </li></ul> <p>LICENSE REQUIRED:</p> <p>Valid Driver's License</p> <p>Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>Candidate must receive and maintain a passing status from Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) background check. </p> <p>Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.</p> <ul> <li>Extensive background in technical team management and development </li><li>Strong background in Network Operations </li><li>Knowledge and understanding of Dynamic Routing Protocols (IP, OSPF, and BGP) </li><li>Knowledge and understanding of intelligent Traffic Systems </li><li>Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN) </li><li>Experience with and deploying National Transportation Communications for Intelligent Transportation System Protocol (NTCIP) standards </li><li>Experience in developing security best practices for transportation and critical infrastructure networks </li></ul>
