<p>Under general supervision, perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties involved in the maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel, and electrically powered maintenance equipment.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Perform preventive maintenance on gasoline, diesel, and electrically powered equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform minor and major overhauls of equipment, engines, and other major drive train components.</p> </li><li> <p>Inspect, diagnose, and locate mechanical difficulties on County diesel and gasoline-powered equipment, including utility vehicles, mowers, tractors, and heavy equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical system components, ignition systems, electronic controls, starters, and batteries.</p> </li><li> <p>Diagnose, maintain, repair, and recondition hydraulic systems and high-pressure water systems, including pumps, valves, rams, hoses, and motors.</p> </li><li> <p>Replace or repair faulty parts including wheel bearings, clutches, oil seals, shock absorbers, exhaust systems, steering mechanisms, and related parts and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Overhaul, repair, and adjust engines, transmissions, differentials, and clutches.</p> </li><li> <p>Repair and replace components such as generators, distributors, relays, switches, and light systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Repair, adjust and replace brake systems including wheel cylinders, master cylinders, disk pads, machine drums and rotors, hydraulic and air brakes.</p> </li><li> <p>Weld, braze, solder, and cut steel, stainless steel, and aluminum by torch, electric arc, mig welder, and plasma cutter; manufacture components to improve the operation of equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Repair and maintain sanders, plows, and related snow removal equipment and systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain cleanliness of work area and tools; ensure compliance with established safety procedures; maintain and repair shop equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate dump trucks with equipment trailers and other equipment and vehicles.</p> </li><li> <p>Determine priority of repairs.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain inventory control of shop tools and specialized shop equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain work time and material records.</p> </li><li> <p>Respond to service calls.</p> </li><li> <p>Respond to work during snowstorms as scheduled.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the purchasing of equipment maintenance parts and materials; order and pick up parts; maintain parts inventory.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the operations of the rental facilities within the Regional Park, which may include night and weekend shift work.</p> </li><li> <p>Deliver excellent customer service to clients, staff, and patrons of the Regional Park facilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Track, repair, organize, and assign keys and door hardware for the Parks Department.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Tools, equipment, and procedures used in the overhaul, repair, and adjustment of gasoline, diesel, and electrically powered parks maintenance equipment and vehicles.</p> </li><li> <p>Procedures of preventive maintenance related to equipment and vehicles.</p> </li><li> <p>Operating and repair characteristics of a wide variety of park maintenance equipment used in County government.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize the methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in welding and fabrication work.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize all tools, equipment, and procedures used in the overhaul, repair, and adjustment of gas, diesel, and electrically powered equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Safe driving principles and practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Acknowledge operational hazards and standard safety practices necessary in the area of assigned work.</p> </li><li> <p>Safe work practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate a motor vehicle safely.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate computerized diagnostic equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate a full range of equipment necessary to perform assigned duties in a safe and effective manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Use and operate hand tools, mechanical equipment, and power tools and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform journey level equipment mechanical work including the diagnosing, troubleshooting, fabricating, and repair of park equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Work independently in the absence of supervision.</p> </li><li> <p>Accurately determine mechanical repair needs and estimate the cost and time of repairs.</p> </li><li> <p>Use a variety of equipment maintenance tools and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a variety of shop and repair records.</p> </li><li> <p>Understand and follow oral and written directions.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.</p> </li><li> <p>Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contacted in the course of work.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide own tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Read and understand various manuals, blueprints, and schematics.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience:</p> </li><li> <p>Three (3) years of journey level experience performing repair and maintenance of construction, lawn and agriculture equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Three (3) years of experience in repairs of gasoline, diesel and electric engines.</p> </li><li> <p>Education and Training: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance, including completion of specialized training in maintenance and repair of gas, diesel, and electrically powered equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>License or Certificate:</p> </li><li> <p>Obtain and maintain two (2) required ASE certifications within one year of employment</p> </li><li> <p>Possession of, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date, a valid Colorado commercial driver's license - class "B". A current copy of applicant's motor vehicle record must be provided at time of interview.</p> </li><li> <p>Adams County is required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations to conduct pre-employment drug screens, background checks and motor vehicle record checks. A successful candidate must pass all of the above, including a DOT physical and criminal background check.</p> </li><li> <p>Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 100 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Exposure to noise, outdoors, confining work space, electrical hazards, vibration, dust, toxic waste, and mechanical hazards are common.</p> </li><li> <p>Availability for shift work, on-call and nights/weekend shift work is a pre-requisite.</p> </li></ul>
