<p>The mission of HCC's Psychology program is to foster a challenging environment that provides a solid knowledge base in psychological science and a broad background in the liberal arts through quality instruction. The successful candidate will exhibit a passion and commitment to teaching, advising, and shared governance. HCC is committed to creating an inclusive learning environment for students that values a variety of experiences and perspectives.</p> <ul> <li>Teach a variety of psychology courses, primarily on-campus. </li><li>Maintains regular office hours. </li><li>Provides academic advising. </li><li>Attends regularly scheduled Department, Division, and College meetings. </li><li>Participates in College Governance Committees, and other committees, task forces, sub-committees, and other activities as requested. </li><li>Assists in curriculum development and assessment of student learning outcomes. </li><li>Integrates computer technology into coursework, as appropriate. </li><li>Participates in enrollment and retention efforts, as appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications: </p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Psychology or Child/Human Development; </li><li>Experience and interest in teaching introductory level psychology courses; </li><li>Well-qualified and prepared to teach courses in developmental psychology (i.e., Child Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, and/or Human Development); </li><li>Teaching experience at the college level; </li><li>Demonstrated ability and knowledge of varied pedagogical strategies; </li><li>Ability to integrate technology into instruction; </li><li>Willingness to teach courses in a variety of modalities (e.g., on-campus, online); </li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills; </li><li>Commitment to and understanding of the community college mission; </li><li>Commitment to teaching a student body diverse in abilities, age, ethnicity, race, gender identity, and sexual orientation; </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency in inclusive pedagogy. </li></ul> <p>Equivalency Statement:</p> <p>We welcome and encourage applicants who do not meet the qualifications as stated above, to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them for the responsibilities of this position. It is preferred that this document be uploaded separately from the resume, cover letter, and references. </p> <p>Preferred Qualifications: </p> <ul> <li>Post-Masters credits or doctoral degree in Psychology; </li><li>Specialization in developmental psychology; </li><li>Experience and interest in teaching introductory level psychology courses; </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency in community college teaching; </li><li>Experience teaching individuals from diverse backgrounds. </li></ul> <p>Full-Time, Tenure-Track MCCC/MTA Position:</p> <p>Salary: Minimum $57,013.00 - $65,725.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
