Extended time may be required before and/or after the school year for this position which would be compensated at the hourly extended time rate. Collective Bargaining Unit AEA. This person coordinates and leads the programme and assures that the curriculum is designed, taught, and collaboratively assessed. This person works closely with teachers to ensure compliance with all programme components and requirements.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Current Ohio Teaching License; </li><li>Knowledge of and commitment to the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, its philosophy, pedagogy, and mission; </li><li>Proven teaching ability (minimum of three (3) years classroom practice); </li><li>Knowledge of and commitment to collaborative planning in grade level and cross grade level teams; </li><li>Ability to work closely with the building principal; </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff, students, district personnel, and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). </li></ul> <p>Desired:</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree; </li><li>A current member of the teaching staff; </li><li>Experience as a building leader; </li><li>Experience with and a commitment to Collaborative Planning; </li><li>Experience in delivering Professional Development; </li><li>Knowledge of the Common Core State Standards in English, Language Arts, and Mathematics; </li><li>Knowledge of the Ohio State Standards for Science and Social Studies; </li><li>Knowledge of and commitment to the constructivist approach to learning. </li></ul> <p>POSITION DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:</p> <ul> <li>Reports to the building principal; </li><li>Pedagogical Leader of the Primary Years Programme; </li><li>Liaison between the school and the IBO; </li><li>Promotes the understanding and use of all PYP documents; </li><li>Coordinates and leads the development of the transdisciplinary units which incorporate the IB Learner Profile Traits, the IB specified key concepts and inquiry; </li><li>Manage the online platform for housing units and reflections </li><li>Assures that the curriculum is designed, taught, and assessed collaboratively; </li><li>Works closely with teachers during weekly collaborative planning meetings; </li><li>Models effective instructional practices in classrooms as necessary; </li><li>Leads the reflection and review process of the school's programme of inquiry; </li><li>Publishes the school's program of inquiry; </li><li>Will be responsible for insuring that all required documentation is completed and sent to IB on time; </li><li>Establish and maintain a record of all completed IB Primary Years Programme planners; </li><li>Ensure that the current document entitled IB Standards and Practices is shared with relevant staff; </li><li>Develop and implement a comprehensive and differentiated induction plan for teachers new to PYP and who may not have had training; </li><li>Ensure that staff members are made aware of professional development opportunities on and off campus; </li><li>Registers all participants for IBO workshops including travel accommodations as necessary; </li><li>Organize and facilitate professional development workshops throughout the year; </li><li>Keep a record of workshop attendance and school visits to ensure equality of opportunity to identify ongoing needs, and to complete authorization and program evaluation forms; </li><li>Assist teams or individuals in developing and documenting units of inquiry and individual student inquiries; </li><li>Support the teachers responsible for, and the students involved in, IB exhibition in the final year of the programme; </li><li>Make recommendations for the purchase of suitable resources to support the implementation of the programme; </li><li>Responsible for the establishment of an inventory of resources to facilitate efficient collaboration; </li><li>Ensure that all requirements of the IB concerning the implementation of the programme are adhered to; </li><li>Set up systems for communication and collaboration among all staff members involved in implementing the programme; </li><li>Conduct parent information sessions; </li><li>Publish articles pertaining to the program in the school newsletter; </li><li>Circulate all relevant information received from the IB and ensure that teachers and other staff are kept up-to-date with current developments in the programme; </li><li>Lead and manage the preparation, coordination, and submission of all documentation required for IB programme evaluation, including extensive evidence of compliance with IB standards </li><li>Facilitate development of the Programme Development Plan aligned with building goals and the APS One Plan. </li><li>Respond to requests for information (for example, questionnaires) from the IB; </li><li>Provide outreach to the wider PYP IB Programming community through PRC discussion forums, email, and hosting visits from other schools; </li><li>Promote the use of the PRC within the school community </li><li>Recommend exemplary teachers to participate in curriculum development meetings. </li></ul> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
