We look forward to your interest!</p> <p>Title: Reading Specialist</p> <p>Reports To: Building Principal</p> <p>Takes Direction From: Professional Employee/Member of NPEA</p> <p>Schedule/Calendar: 7.5 hours/day 37.5 hours/week 191 days/year</p> <p>Summary: A teacher shall be responsible for helping students learn subject matter and skills that will maximize their potential to develop into mature, capable and responsible adults.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Meets and instructs assigned classes in locations and times designated </li><li>Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal/district office administrator </li><li>Plans lessons that are differentiated in order to meet the needs of students and demonstrates alignment to the PA Core and approved courses of study </li><li>Demonstrates understanding of the Danielson Framework and executes its implementation </li><li>Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students </li><li>Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in conjunction with SLOs, establishes objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students </li><li>Employs a variety of instructional techniques and technology, consistent with the needs and capabilities of student groups, in order to promote and nurture growth in learning </li><li>Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives </li><li>Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required </li><li>Works to support the identification of students with special needs on an ongoing basis seeking the assistance of district specialists as required </li><li>Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities </li><li>Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative procedure </li><li>Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct </li><li>Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure </li><li>Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner </li><li>Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior </li><li>Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms </li><li>Displays comprehensive understanding of technology and 21st century skills and their incorporation into instructional practice and methodology </li><li>Attends staff meetings and serves on building and/or district-level committees, as required </li><li>Assumes responsibility for continued professional growth development to include conference attendance, coursework, participation in PLCs, etc. </li></ul> <p>Education and/or Certification Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Education </li><li>PA teacher certification </li></ul> <p>Requisite Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to direct classroom </li><li>Ability to plan </li><li>Ability to deal with all stakeholders </li><li>Ability to support a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion </li></ul> <p>You are navigating off of REAP site to the district's posting.</p> <p>OK</p>
