All City hiring decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Under general direction and supervision of up-line personnel, is responsible to operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment of a complex nature in connection with general maintenance, development, and construction projects including, but not limited to highway construction and snow and ice removal.</p> <p>3rd shift 10:30 pm to 7:00 am Sunday through Thursday.</p> <p>Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Operates and maintains equipment, appurtenances, and accessories of a complex or special nature such as, but not limited to, bulldozers, payloaders, asphalt pavers, power sweepers, truck and trailer units, compressors, pumps, and generators. </li><li>Operates sander/snowplow during winter operations; cleans snow and ice from streets. </li><li>Performs pre-trip inspections and operator level maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment; makes minor operational and maintenance repairs and services equipment. </li><li>Maintains record of assignments, hours of operation, materials and supplies received and delivered, and other pertinent information relative to the equipment operator. </li><li>When not engaged in Heavy Equipment Operator duties, operates light equipment (mowers, tractors, light trucks) or performs general manual labor as directed. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school graduate or equivalent and at least four (4) years experience as an equipment operator and one (1) year experience operating heavy equipment. </li><li>Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver's License. Must also possess and maintain a valid State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement and a Hoisting Engineer's License. </li><li>Ability to make operating adjustments, repairs, and perform general maintenance work on equipment. </li><li>Working knowledge of the mechanics of gasoline and diesel motors and automotive equipment; skill in the operation, maintenance, and servicing of automotive and hydraulic equipment. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. </li><li>Ability to work independently and frequently in absence of supervision. </li><li>Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job. </li></ul> <p>Training Requirements</p> <p>The term "limited" means that the successful candidate will perform the job for an undetermined length of time.
