<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Education Department at Wittenberg University seeks to hire a full-time, tenure track-faculty assistant or associate professor beginning either January 1, 2026 or August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate literacy and language arts courses, supervise students in both course-specific field experiences and student teaching, and advise students. They will also have opportunities to teach other courses in the areas of their expertise at both the undergraduate and graduate level, serve on graduate student thesis committees, and participate in the department's many school- and community-based projects and partnerships. Although first and foremost a teaching position, this position requires promise for engagement in significant professional activity and service to Wittenberg's campus and to one's academic community.</p> <p>Wittenberg's Education Department is deeply invested in community improvement, and we maintain local, national, and international partnerships that provide our students and faculty with a range of teaching and learning experiences. We are an CAEP accredited institution and the Education Department cherishes its role as part of Wittenberg's liberal arts tradition.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>A Ph.D./EdD in Reading and Literacy is required; candidates that are ABD working toward degree completion will be considered. Candidates must have a strong commitment and interest in teaching in the liberal arts and sciences context. Candidates must have deep knowledge and understanding of The Science of Reading. In addition, candidates must have an earned certification or licensure and have a minimum of three years teaching experience at K-5 grade levels. We are looking not only for evidence of teaching effectiveness and a diverse background, but also for dedication to teacher preparation, knowledge of best instructional practices, a commitment to liberal arts education, a sense of humor, and evidence of excellent team membership. A record of scholarly work, active participation in professional organizations, and experience working with school-based colleagues is also preferred.
