<p>This is skilled journeyman level work in the inspection, repair and maintenance of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, treatment and pumping systems and related instrumentation. Work involves preventative and corrective maintenance to mechanical equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyors, aerators, compressors, gearboxes and blowers, electrical devices such as switchgears, breakers, AC control systems, transformers, wiring, invertors, variable speed controllers and instrument system devices such as controllers, meters, gages, and AC and DC control logics; and includes iron and metal work, fabrication, welding and blueprint reading. Work includes planning, scheduling, and implementation of an equipment preventive maintenance program; initiating work orders in a computerized maintenance system; inspecting contracted work to ensure quality of installation or repair; and training and providing lead supervision when assigned apprentice personnel. Because of the critical responsibilities of this position, an employee in this class can be scheduled "on call" and required to report to work at the discretion of management.</p> <p>Salary: $25.90 - $36.13 Hourly</p> <p>Close Date: 07-02-2025 (11:59 PM)</p> <p>To Qualify</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:</p> <ul> <li>Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalency. </li><li>Possess and maintain a valid Driver License. </li><li>Obtain a State of Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver License within 12 months of appointment to the position. </li><li>Have completed a recognized apprenticeship program (such as Florida Department of Education Apprenticeship or Office of Workforce Education Apprenticeship) in the industrial maintenance field or may substitute considerable progressive journeyman level electrical and/or mechanical experience for technical course work in the public utility or plant maintenance field. </li><li>Be available to work varied shifts and overtime, to include evenings, weekends and holidays and be able to report to work to respond to emergency conditions and/or to address urgent needs. </li><li>Possess basic computer and data entry skills. </li><li>Be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. </li><li>Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, an applicant must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster. </li></ul> <p>Desirable Qualifications. Preferred Applicants:</p> <ul> <li>Have considerable knowledge of methods, techniques, materials, supplies and tools required for the maintenance, alteration and repair of mechanical, electrical and/or electronic systems utilized in water and wastewater distribution and treatment facilities. </li><li>Are able to communicate clearly and concisely (orally and in writing), maintain accurate and detailed records, and input information into a computer terminal following written instructions. </li></ul> <p>Selection Process</p> <p>IMPORTANT APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS</p> <p>For purposes of employment, re-employment, promotion, transfer or demotion, the most qualified applicants will be selected to continue in the hiring process.
