We build effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the College by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance to all and maintain an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Stipend: $9,000.00 per six-month contract</p> <ul> <li>Approximately 6 hours/week, off-site, schedule very flexible but some hours needed within the 9-5 workday, and occasional evenings for student and/or faculty meetings </li></ul> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Communication Design Certificate Program Division of Graduate and Continuing Education (DGCE) Chair supports the successful operation of the program by serving as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and administrative partners. The coordinator oversees student progress, prepares the schedule for each semester, supports curriculum updates, assists marketing efforts, and ensures smooth communications across Continuing Education, Human Resources, the Registrar, and other relevant offices. The Chair also plans orientation and information sessions, manages portfolio review processes, and manages part time faculty including hiring, onboarding and evaluation.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>1) Develop annual goals and objectives for the Certificate Program; oversee implementation and conduct internal program evaluation.</p> <p>2) Collaborate with staff on student recruitment and marketing including maintenance of a contact list and cultivation of relationships with program alumni and other design educators/design professionals.</p> <p>3) Collaborate with staff on marketing and communications related to the program. Draft course descriptions and program webpage text for staff review.</p> <p>4) Oversee curriculum development and program changes, in consultation with the Dean and Communication Design Department chair where applicable. Prepare information on curriculum and program changes and work with faculty and staff on communication and implementation.</p> <p>5) Recruit, hire, orient, support, and evaluate faculty.</p> <p>6) Provide staffing and schedules for Fall, Wintersession, Spring, and Summer terms including communication with the Registrar's Office and Certificate Program staff.</p> <p>7) Advise students in course registration and progression in the program; provide consultation and support to individual students.</p> <p>8) Oversee the role of the program's Professional Mentor for professional development.</p> <p>9) Manage budget in consultation with the Senior Associate Dean.</p> <p>10) Coordinate with the Registrar's office regarding course/credit requirements, student records, certification completion, registration processes and timelines.</p> <p>11) Organize and oversee program's portfolio reviews for capstone assignments</p> <p>12) Work with instructional designer to ensure Canvas templates are updated and accurate and that faculty are getting support for online teaching when needed.</p> <p>13) Perform other duties as defined in consultation with the Dean.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Educational background: degree or college-level certificate in Communication Design, Graphic Design, UX, or related field </li><li>Work experience as a communication designer, graphic designer, UX designer, or related design profession </li><li>Excellent organizational and communication skills </li><li>Commitment to keeping abreast of changes in the communication design field and with evolving requirements for professional designers </li><li>Experience with design education for higher-ed as an instructor and/or administrator </li><li>Desire to help and support students and faculty </li><li>Leadership skills </li><li>Collaborative skills and a cooperative attitude </li><li>Experience with teaching and/or learning in an online environment a plus </li><li>Available to train remotely (schedule and hours flexible, to be determined in consultation with current program Chair) March or April-June; contract start date July 1, 2026. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Please note MassArt:</p> <ul> <li>Does not support employment-based visa sponsorship or non-student exchange visitor visa sponsorship. </li><li>Is not an E-Verify institution. </li></ul> <p>Selected candidates must be eligible to work in the US at the time of employment, complete all onboarding tasks including a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background review and provide proof of eligibility to work in the US by completing the Form 19, Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.</p> <p>You are required to show proof of your identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of the start of your employment.
