Position:</p> <ul> <li>Special Education Supervisor- Pulaski Elementary School </li></ul> <p>Summary:</p> <ul> <li>To assist the principal in promoting the academic growth and educational well-being of all students, specifically students with disabilities. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate as a member of the school instructional leadership team to enhance instructional practices. </li><li>Supervise the teaching and learning process for students with disabilities. </li><li>Supervise and support staff with the development and implementation of high quality and evidence-based programs/supports that address the academic needs of students with disabilities. </li><li>In collaboration with the principal, supervise and oversee special education models and programs(inclusion/Rise Academy/PK) </li><li>Complete teacher evaluations in accordance with the DESE Educator Evaluation process </li><li>Complete staff evaluations in accordance with district contracts. </li><li>Coordinate the implementation of high-quality evidence-based materials to ensure alignment with educational standards </li><li>Assist in classroom development to create inclusive learning environments that support academic and social/emotional success. </li><li>Work collaboratively with all school staff to provide support and resources for students with diverse educational needs. </li><li>Create and monitor the implementation of protocols, procedures and criteria that support whole child development. </li><li>Collaborate with the principal to manage the administration of assessments, inclusive of MCAS. </li><li>Support the development and implementation of professional development specific to special education and building based initiatives </li><li>Analyze and report on student data. </li><li>Oversee the collection of statistical and student data (including behavioral infractions, at-risk forms), in a timely manner and report prior to the submission to the Principal and Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services. </li><li>Oversee and monitor the integration process. </li><li>Oversee and monitor special education services for students with disabilities to ensure that students' Individual Education Programs (IEPs) are being followed and services are being provided. </li><li>Collaborate with SPED department to plan and coordinate Extended Year Services (EYS) services for all students who receive programmatic, academic and/or related services during the summer. </li><li>Attend Team Meetings (with family and student providers) as necessary to ensure provisions of quality special education and/or related behavioral services. </li><li>Keep informed on all legal requirements governing special education </li><li>Collaborate with district personnel to review student profiles to make educational placement decisions and meet programmatic criteria </li><li>Maintain accurate, complete and correct student and staff records as required by law, district, policy and administrative regulation. </li><li>Meet with families and plan community events to promote family and community engagement. </li><li>Facilitate meetings with relevant community providers to ensure successful partnerships. </li><li>Ensure staff maintains consistent and frequent communication with parents and community partners. </li><li>In conjunction with principal or designee, manage disciplinary needs of students. </li><li>Collaborate with student teams during crisis level situations and collaborate with community providers. </li><li>Assist Principal to plan interviews, recommend new hires, and supervise purposeful assignments of staff. </li><li>Attend specific meetings (in and out of district) as assigned by the principal and/or Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by Principal or designee. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Certification in proper area and level by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (Administrator level licensure) </li><li>Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferred. Evidence of specific professional study in the field of special education or related field. </li><li>Minimum five years' experience in the area of Special Education. </li><li>Knowledge/experience using the MA DESE educator evaluation system. </li><li>Comprehensive understanding of the MA curriculum frameworks and instructional practices that support all students to meet or exceed grade-level standards </li><li>Understanding of and experience with adapting and modifying curriculum, content, methodology and delivery of instruction to make it accessible to all students, including those with disabilities. </li><li>Understanding of requirements for DESE mandated restraint training and experience working with schools to complete the training process. </li><li>Excellent communication skills - written verbal and non-verbal. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and social skills with colleagues, district staff, families and community. </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment:</p> <ul> <li>Reports to: School Principal </li><li>Rate: In accordance with the Unit B contract found here </li></ul> <p>The New Bedford Public Schools do not discriminate on account of age, race, color, sex, gender identity, gender expression, ancestry, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, military status, genetics, or disability that does not prohibit performance of essential job functions in employment for potential employees.
