<p>Position DetailsReq IDreq1972Job Title TOOLMAKER ASSISTANTDivision CorporateShiftFirst ShiftJob SummaryJob Summary</p> <p>Applies knowledge of basic production procedures to learn the process and use the tools and equipment and documentation to fabricate and repair epoxy lay-up tooling, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, fabricating plaster casts and gauges.</p> <p>Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Performs a variety of routine duties related to the area to which assigned. Learns to fabricate assembly jigs, templates, and fixtures and other production tooling that are simple to moderately complex requiring some skill and experience to determine plans and action from standard procedural alternatives. </li><li>Assists in fabrication and alignment and assembly jigs, templates, and fixtures and other production tooling such as high temperature laminated fixtures, plaster casts, plaster mockups from master bond jigs and other information, that are simple to moderately complex requiring some skill and experience to determine plans and action from standard procedural alternatives. </li><li>Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts. Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations. </li><li>Assists in the set up and operates shop tools such as lathes, milling machine and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications. Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances. </li><li>Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product. Examines standard or previously used tools, and jigs and fixtures. </li><li>Uses various epoxy resin systems in order to fabricate or repair high temperature laminated fixtures. Makes plaster casts from any fixture furnished and plaster mockups or sample parts. Maintains contour and dimensional requirements of form tools and fixtures. </li></ul> <p>Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.Minimum QualificationsEducation Requirements</p> <p>Other. No formal education required</p> <p>If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.</p> <p>Experience Requirements</p> <p>year(s) Experience using basic shop hand tools and power tools i.e. Band Saw, Drill Press, Disc Grinder and precision measurement tools knowledge i.e. Calipers, Micrometers and other like measuring devices.</p> <p>Skills and Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Must take and successfully pass a shop math test. </li><li>Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required dependent upon driving duties assigned. </li><li>Learns to read blueprints and follow all work instructions, as well as, properly document work performed. </li><li>Learns to use close tolerance measuring tools such as scales, micrometers, calipers, depth gages, and high gages and hand tools such as drill motors and die grinders. </li><li>Operates machines such as universal milling machines, lathes and saws, and drive lift truck. </li><li>Interprets drawings and diagrams that do not contain detailed information of all operations. </li><li>Exhibits mechanical aptitude. </li><li>Ability to visualize spatial relationships. </li><li>Detail oriented. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Work RequirementsPhysical RequirementsPhysical Requirements</p> <p>Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required.
