<p>The Hickory, North Carolina Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) is recruiting for one (1) Physical Therapist in the Physical Medicine Rehabilitation Service. The Physical Therapist independently plans, integrates, and coordinates comprehensive and complex physical therapy treatment programs for a wide variety of psychosocial, neuromusculoskeletal, upper and lower motor neuron dysfunctions, pre- and post surgery joint replacements, and functional impairments.</p> <p>VA Careers - Physical Therapy: https://youtube.com/embed/Gi2hoFqIoqY</p> <p>Duties include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Independently develops and implements Physical Therapy(PT) treatment program; using own judgment, makes changes in treatment program as medical conditions change. </li><li>Implementation of treatment plans that directly affect the patients' social, economic and functional wellbeing in home and community settings. </li><li>Therapist is a member of the multidisciplinary team and participates with the physician, nurses, psychologist, social worker and other disciplines in developing total treatment care plans. In areas of clinical specialty, serves as subject matter expert for treatment plan and serves as liaison between PM&RS, other sections (PT, OT, KT, RT) and physician services in coordination and communication of the dysfunction/impairment rehab care plan and treatment for patients who have physical impairment with or without surgery. </li><li>Appropriate selection of modalities with adequate formal training, experience and/or certification, including but not limited to: functional electrical stimulation, wheelchairs, power mobility, neuroprosthetic devices, TENS, lymphedema management, ultrasound, iontophoresis and hot/cold modalities to reduce pain, edema, and spasticity. Appropriate selection of durable medical equipment, adaptive devices to maximize ADLs and all levels of transfer skills. </li><li>Documents in CPRS. Assessment/reassessment and progress notes should be timely and comprehensive in accordance with local policy, The Joint Commission and VISN/VHA standards. </li><li>Reports to the PT Supervisor/MDS/RAI are entered in a timely manner and supported by CPRS documentation. </li><li>Provides cross coverage of clinical/administrative functions for Physical Therapy activities in CLC, primary care, walk in clinic, acute inpatient, bedside, clinic therapy for inpatients and outpatients, as well as other duties as as per direction of the Outpatient Physical Therapy supervisor or Chief of PM&RS. </li><li>Participates in Physical Therapy and PM&RS training programs, as well as all appropriate and mandated meetings and committees within the PT section and PM&RS. </li><li>Develops new procedures or treatment techniques following attendance at continuing education programs. </li><li>Provides education and instruction to patients and their families regarding the physical therapy program. </li><li>Participates in various performance improvement (PI) activities as required by PM&RS. </li><li>All members of the Physical Therapy team will be trained in and participate in protected peer review, as stipulated in VHA Directive 2008-004 and local MCM. </li><li>Applies in-depth knowledge and training in MDS standards and demonstrates competence in its requirements. </li><li>Ensures accurate and timely CPRS and MDS documentation, and participates in protected peer review and chart review processes. </li><li>Collects, retrieves, and reports data in written or oral format to the PT Supervisor and Chief PM&RS or designee, upon request. </li><li>Demonstrates proficient computer skills for CPRS. iv. Understands the hospital mission and their role in performance improvement </li><li>Actively participates in performance improvement (PI) activities within the PT section, PM&RS, and the Medical Center. </li><li>Adheres to all provisions of the EEO Program, fire and safety codes, infection control, OSHA, AIS security, and waste prevention in accordance with OPM, VA, Joint Commission, and established Medical Center guidelines. </li><li>Complies with all mandatory educational requirements, including but not limited to orientation (hospital and service-wide), infection control, new equipment training, CPR, bloodborne pathogens, cultural diversity, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness, and quality improvement. </li><li>Maintains current physical therapy licensure and BLS training requirements. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Functional Statement #: 0000</p> <p>Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Available</p>
