<p>Essex North Shore is seeking a Teaching Assistant for Multilingual Learners to provide instructional support to the Multilingual Learning Teachers. The Teacher Assistant for Multilingual Learners will support students who are in the early</p> <p>stages of adapting to U.S. culture and have English language skills at the entering or beginning stages.</p> <p>Candidates must demonstrate and/or possess:</p> <ul> <li>Passion for working with a culturally diverse student population; </li><li>Knowledge of basic learning strategies; & </li><li>Knowledge of child growth and development. </li></ul> <p>Bilingual prefered.</p> <p>Satisfactory SAFIS, CORI and SORI required.</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Teaching Assistant</p> <p>REPORTING STRUCTURE:</p> <p>The Teaching Assistant reports to the Humanities Coordinator.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Knowledge of or willingness to learn best practices of vocational education.. </li><li>Experience working with high school aged students. </li><li>Ability to use basic machinery and equipment. </li><li>Knowledge of technology, such as computers and related software. </li><li>Strong communication and organizational skills. </li><li>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent-Director may find appropriate and in conformity with state and federal law. </li></ul> <p>DUTIES:</p> <ul> <li>Under supervision, assists the Teacher in the administration of instruction in traditional and non traditional settings; </li><li>Assist the Teacher in the preparation of lessons and other related learning materials; </li><li>Integrates the basic principles of child development to complement learning goals; </li><li>Redirects and adapts students who are observed having difficulties towards the appropriate classroom resources; </li><li>Builds formidable and educationally appropriate relationships with students; </li><li>Implements appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities; </li><li>Performs other duties as required and assumes such other responsibilities as the Coordinator or their Designee may assign. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <p>This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times. The position may require in and out-of-district travel.</p> <p>TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <ul> <li>This is a 10-month position, 184 day position, with hours to be set by the Coordinator or designee. </li><li>Salary and fringe benefits are established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the policies established by the School Committee. </li></ul>
