<p>Grounds Division Chief</p> <p>Department: Public Services</p> <p>Pay Grade: 218</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Grounds Division Chief is responsible for the direction, coordination and supervision of staff involved with maintaining Town-owned parks, athletic complexes, community centers, and other public outdoor spaces.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs all activities associated with the Grounds Division under the supervision of the Services Operations Officer. </li><li>Develops division policies and procedures with general direction and in accordance with established departmental standard operating procedures that conform with American Public Works Association's best practices. </li><li>Conducts administrative tasks for the division to include absentee reports, payroll, employee evaluations, disciplinary actions, loss controls, hiring, etc. </li><li>Oversees the purchasing of division materials and supplies in accordance with Town procedures. </li><li>Conducts data entry and utilizes software to track service requests and work orders </li><li>Ensures safety procedures and policies are followed by all personnel. </li><li>Develops and manages the budget for the division, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation. </li><li>Develops manpower, equipment, and material requirements and makes recommendations, as requested. </li><li>Plans maintenance schedules for seasonal tasks such as mowing, pruning, fertilizing, and pest management. </li><li>Coordinates with other divisions, departments, and agencies for projects or events. </li><li>Oversees and prioritizes the maintenance and care of all parks, athletic complexes, and public green spaces. Ensures work is performed to Town standards. </li><li>Ensures that pest management, turf management, tree care, irrigation systems, and plant health are all handled according to industry standards and best practices. </li><li>Monitors the condition of facilities and equipment, arranging for maintenance, repairs and replacements, as needed. </li><li>Implements sustainable practices such as water conservation and environmentally sound pesticide utilization. </li><li>Ensures that the division complies with Town policies, environmental regulations, and safety standards. </li><li>Prepares regular reports on the status of projects, budgets, and team performance for the leadership. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in horticulture, landscaping, turfgrass management, or environmental science. </li><li>Five (5) years prior work experience with increasing responsibility, including three (3) years of supervisory experience. </li><li>Or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. </li><li>Must obtain South Carolina Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (category 3 or 9) within 6 months of hire </li><li>Knowledge of and experience with synthetic turf preferred. </li></ul> <p>To deliver superior performance in a manner that is distinctive and impactful to each person served and that establishes a standard for quality that endures for generations.</p> <p>Other details</p> <ul> <li>Pay Type Salary </li><li>Min Hiring Rate $72,715.50 </li><li>Max Hiring Rate $90,889.50 </li></ul> <p>Apply Now</p> <ul> <li>Mt Pleasant, SC, USA </li></ul>
