In their role, constables support staff so that they can focus on providing high-quality instruction and build authentic, loving relationships with students.</p> <p>Position: Constable</p> <p>Location: Colonial School District (School TBD)</p> <p>Start Date: as soon as possible</p> <p>Reports to: Director of Schools Division and Principal</p> <p>Work Year: Casual/Seasonal Employee</p> <p>(188 working days plus any and all required training days.</p> <p>With flexibility and no benefits or benefits - 10 months</p> <p>Salary: $23.24 Per hour with benefits</p> <p>$35.18 Per hours without benefits</p> <p>SCOPE OF WORK:</p> <p>Responsible for the safety and well-being of students, staff, volunteers, visitors and school facilities and assets at the assigned district location. Constable will also assist with fire drills, school safety drills, other threats and the removal of unauthorized stakeholders from the building.</p> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:</p> <ul> <li>At least 10 years of experience in a local, state or federal law enforcement agency. </li><li>State of Delaware Constable Certification or eligibility for Delaware Constable Certification </li><li>Successfully pass Criminal Background Check and MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) </li><li>Successfully obtain yearly Constable License from the State of Delaware </li><li>Successfully obtain Constable Training Certification from the State of Delaware </li><li>Successfully obtain a license to carry a firearm from the State of Delaware </li><li>Successfully complete any additional training or education as needed </li><li>Successfully qualify for Firearms Certification for three qualifying shoots per year </li><li>Constable for the remainder of the term shall meet all requirements related to Firearms training and all requirements related to any additional training </li><li>The Board of Examiners may require commissioned constables to receive such Additional training or education as it deems </li><li>Approved by the Board of Examiners, constable applicant shall meet the minimum standards established by the Board and shall participate in such other training as the Board requires. </li><li>Good separated standing from the Law enforcement agency </li><li>Possesses the physical stamina required for patrolling school campus/district Properties </li><li>Possess or is willing to obtain First Aid and CPR Certification </li><li>Regular attendance is an essential function of the position </li><li>Clean Criminal Background Check, TB test and Child Protection Registry. Clearance must be completed prior to start of employment </li><li>Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>To perform the duties successfully an individual must be able to execute the essential duties and responsibilities related to the District at a consistent and high-level of performance. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.</p> <ul> <li>Follows directives of Directors of Schools, Principal, and Lead District Constable </li><li>Serves as the Lead on the building comprehensive safety plans. Works with building administrators and staff in the event of an actual crisis. </li><li>Assists building administrators with fire drills, evacuation drills and bomb threats. </li><li>Monitors the interior and exterior of the school and campus before, during and after school to ensure the safety and welfare of students, staff, volunteers and visitors and to ensure the security of school facilities and assets. Is responsible for validating that exterior </li></ul> <p>doors are secure throughout the school day.</p> <ul> <li>Provides crowd control in hallways, parking lots, and cafeteria, playground and/or gathering spaces and intercedes in fights and other disturbances </li><li>Watches for disturbances, fights, unauthorized visitors, and/or criminal activity. Assess danger and intervenes to halt or prevent fights, disturbances and diffuses Threatening or confrontational situations between students and others. </li><li>Help to ensure order is restored and students are unharmed </li><li>Assists building administrators with student incidences, including but not limited to bullying, fights, thefts, weapons and substance abuse. </li><li>May assist district administrators with investigations as needed </li><li>Maintains familiarity with and enforcement of Student Discipline Code </li><li>Assist SRO's and local and state law enforcement agency when required </li><li>Assist administrators, when needed, to respond to unsafe student behaviors </li><li>Escorts unauthorized personnel from the school campus as needed </li><li>Maintains accurate and completed security records pertaining to discipline warnings Parking control (high school) and criminal events. </li><li>Attend ongoing training to maintain skills and safety practices </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned </li><li>Coordinate all communications/activities with community police agencies </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.
