With more than 25,000 students in grades K-12, New York Edge bridges the opportunity gap faced by students in underinvested communities by strengthening academic performance, health and wellness, self-confidence, and leadership skills for success in life.</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>The Employee Relations Manager will lead efforts in cultivating a respectful, ethical, and legally compliant workplace culture. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, this role is critical in addressing employee concerns, resolving conflicts, and reinforcing consistent application of policies across the organization.</p> <p>The Employee Relations Manager is a key member of the Human Resources team responsible for supporting a positive and productive workplace culture. This role focuses on employee relations matters including conflict resolution, performance coaching, policy compliance, and mediation. This individual must bring a strong understanding of HR principles, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to build trust and credibility at all levels of the organization.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the primary contact for employee concerns, workplace conflicts, and misconduct allegations. </li><li>Conduct thorough investigations and maintain accurate, confidential documentation of findings and outcomes. </li><li>Provide coaching and support to managers in handling employee issues fairly and consistently. </li></ul> <p>Policy Compliance & HR Best Practices</p> <ul> <li>Support the implementation and consistent application of HR policies and procedures. </li><li>Ensure compliance with labor laws and internal standards through education, oversight, and issue tracking. </li><li>Participate in updates to the employee handbook and other documentation in collaboration with HR leadership. </li></ul> <p>Performance Management & Coaching</p> <ul> <li>Guide supervisors in addressing performance concerns, corrective action, and disciplinary procedures. </li><li>Help managers navigate sensitive conversations with professionalism and empathy. </li><li>Reinforce documentation best practices to mitigate risk and improve accountability. </li></ul> <p>Training & Culture Support</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for developing and delivering training workshops on topics such as workplace ethics, communication, and conflict resolution. </li><li>Promote a healthy workplace culture aligned with the organization's mission, values, and expectations. </li><li>Strengthen communication between staff and leadership to foster transparency and inclusion. </li></ul> <p>Reporting & Strategic Input</p> <ul> <li>Track and analyze ER trends and workplace issues to identify patterns and recommend solutions. </li><li>Prepare reports and summaries for HR leadership as needed. </li><li>Participate in HR team meetings and initiatives to improve employee satisfaction and engagement. </li></ul> <p>Other Duties as Assigned</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Psychology, or related field required. </li><li>5+ years of experience in employee relations, HR generalist, or related HR function. </li><li>Strong knowledge of labor laws, HR best practices, and nonprofit organizational dynamics. </li><li>Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and integrity. </li><li>Exceptional communication, mediation, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Strong documentation and report-writing skills. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field. </li><li>Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR). </li><li>Previous experience in a youth development or afterschool program environment. </li></ul> <p>Benefits</p> <ul> <li>Competitive salary </li><li>Health, dental, vision, and life insurance </li><li>403(b) retirement plan </li><li>Paid time off and holidays </li><li>Professional development opportunities. </li></ul> <p>New York Edge is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.</p> <p>Disclaimer: The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee in this position.
