<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Family & Consumer Science Teacher - Culinary - Windsor Locks High School</p> <p>Position Start Date: August 2025</p> <p>Application Closing Date: Open until filled</p> <p>Job Summary: We expect you to create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education in accordance with each student's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement engaging culinary arts and child development curriculum that aligns with educational standards and industry best practices. </li><li>Plan and deliver lessons that cover a range of culinary topics, including food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food safety. </li><li>Create and utilize various teaching methods, including demonstrations, hands-on activities, and lectures, to cater to different learning styles. </li><li>Provide hands-on instruction and supervision, ensuring a safe and organized learning environment. </li><li>Work collaboratively with administration and staff from elementary schools to partner with student teaching opportunities. </li><li>Demonstrate proper cooking techniques and safety procedures, emphasizing hygiene and sanitation. </li><li>Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning and skill development. </li><li>Evaluate student performance through practical assessments, quizzes, and projects. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and participation. </li><li>Stay up-to-date on current culinary trends, techniques, and industry standards. </li><li>Collaborate with other teachers and professionals to develop best practices and improve the program. </li><li>Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. </li><li>Maintain kitchen equipment and ensure a clean and safe working environment. </li><li>Assist with school events and activities related to culinary arts. </li><li>Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications: Must have valid Connecticut Certification Number: Home Economics, 045</p> <p>Salary Range: $50,055 to $67,366 (DOE) - Competitive Benefits</p> <p>Windsor Locks Public Schools does not discriminate in any employment practice on the basis of race, color, religious creed, sex, age, national origin, ancestry, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, genetic information, or any other basis prohibited by Connecticut state and/or federal nondiscrimination law.
