<p>This is to cover for an employee on leave, for one month (until October 31)</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The School Adjustment Counselor provides counseling and support services to students within a school environment. They work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, and administrators to address social, emotional, and behavioral issues that may affect students' academic success and personal development.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Counseling Services: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students with personal, social, or behavioral challenges. </li><li>Assess students' emotional and psychological needs and develop appropriate intervention plans. </li><li>Offer crisis intervention and support to students experiencing emergencies or emotional distress. </li><li>Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation sessions between students as needed. </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Support and Advocacy: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Advocate for students' needs within the school and help them access appropriate resources and support services. </li><li>Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to develop and implement strategies for supporting students with diverse needs. </li><li>Assist students in developing essential life skills, such as problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution. </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Prevention and Education: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Develop and deliver educational programs and workshops on bullying prevention, stress management, and substance abuse prevention. </li><li>Work with teachers to integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) into the curriculum and classroom activities. </li><li>Conduct assessments and screenings to identify students at risk of mental health issues and coordinate early intervention efforts. </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li>Family and Community Collaboration: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding students' progress and challenges. </li><li>Collaborate with community agencies, mental health professionals, and other external resources to support students' needs beyond the school setting. </li><li>Organize and facilitate parent education workshops and support groups. </li></ul> <ol start="5"> <li>Documentation and Evaluation: </li></ol> <ul> <li>Keep accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions. </li><li>Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of counseling interventions and adjust strategies as needed. </li><li>Prepare reports and documentation as required by school policies and regulations. </li><li>Write IEP goals and progress reports based on the timeline. </li><li>A master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. State licensure or certification as a School Counselor, LISW or LMHC. </li><li>Experience working with children and adolescents in a school or clinical setting. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and best practices. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Job Category: Counselor</p> <p>Job Type: Temporary</p> <p>Job Location: Springfield International Charter School</p>
