<p>About Us</p> <p>Savannah State University established in 1890, is the first public historically black college or university in the state of Georgia and the first institution of higher learning in the city of Savannah. The university's students select majors from five colleges:</p> <ul> <li>Business Administration </li><li>Education </li><li>Engineering and Computing </li><li>Media, Arts, and Communication </li><li>Science and Humanities </li></ul> <p>The campus is by far the most picturesque in the state of Georgia. The moss-laden sweeping oak trees, expansive marsh and historic architecture create a resplendent yet tranquil atmosphere. Beneath the beauty and splendor is a vibrant residential campus bursting at the seams with the vim and vigor of quality collegiate life: relevant academic majors, engaging lectures, cutting-edge research, quality student-faculty engagement and a nurturing environment.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>We seek an individual with a passion for teaching in business administration with a focus on Management, General Business and related areas. We are particularly interested in individuals with significant, high-level business experience. The College of Business also has a Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and a recently expanded Human Cognition Laboratory that focuses on consumer behavior and related aspect. The successful individual will teach both face-to-face and online, and a have a desire to engage students in the classroom and outside. The selected candidate will engage in curriculum development, student advising, and retention efforts. There will be opportunities for summer teaching.</p> <p>NOTE: In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not offer sponsorship for employment visas.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>The successful candidate will be required to teach 24 credit hours per academic year. The following is a non-exclusive list of responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>The selected candidate will be expected to teach the following areas in management - data analytics, statistics, and other business-related courses.</p> </li><li> <p>Non-tenure track, full-time teaching position on a 10-month contract.</p> </li><li> <p>Face-to-face and online teaching interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus.</p> </li><li> <p>Teach 24 credit hours per contract year. Summer teaching opportunities are available.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in collecting assessment data as outlined by the COBA Assessment Coordinator (for SACSCOC and AACSB accreditations). Achieve appropriate student-learning outcomes in all courses taught.</p> </li><li> <p>Faculty are expected to employ sound pedagogical practices and use appropriate technology.</p> </li><li> <p>Abide by deadlines and processes for submitting grades.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in academic advising for students and provide help to them during weekly office hours.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in course revisions, curriculum, and program development, as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with other faculty and staff to advance the program.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend department, college, and university faculty meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend convocations, commencement exercises, recruitment activities, and community meetings, as well as actively collaborate and support student success through involvement in events and clubs.</p> </li></ol> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>The minimum requirement is a Master's Degree in Management, or a closely related field, from an AACSB accredited University, plus at least 5 years of recent, high level business experience in a related area. </li><li>Must have a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline. </li></ul> <p>Proposed Salary</p> <p>The proposed salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of core business principles such as management, operations, and organizational behavior.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of data analysis and research methodologies applied in a business context.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of legal, ethical and compliance issues in business practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of current trends and debates in business.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of business analytics tools and emerging technologies in the discipline.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of instructional strategies and curriculum development in higher education.</p> </li><li> <p>Skills in interpersonal relations and classroom management</p> </li><li> <p>Skills in designing and delivering engaging lectures and seminars.</p> </li><li> <p>Skills in integrating technology and digital resources into teaching.</p> </li><li> <p>Skills in assessing student learning and providing constructive feedback.</p> </li><li> <p>Skills in oral and written communication for academic and public audiences.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to foster critical thinking among students.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to mentor and advise students on academic and career paths.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to create a supportive classroom environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to departmental initiatives.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to adapt teaching methods to all learning styles.</p> </li></ul> <p>Apply Before Date</p> <p>Review of applications will begin upon receipt.
