By focusing on continual improvement, our services remain at the forefront of our industry, and we pride ourselves on delivering our services with the highest degree of integrity.</p> <p>SierTeK Ltd. is seeking a Mathematician to support an opportunity at Wright Patterson AFB.</p> <p>POSITION OVERVIEW SECTION</p> <p>The employee shall support the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM/FES) by providing advanced data science and statistical expertise in the analysis of health surveillance, operational, and military records. The goal of this role is to support human performance monitoring, readiness evaluation, and program effectiveness through robust analytical and modeling efforts.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li>Design, formulate, conduct, and lead complex analyses of individual- and population-level health surveillance, operational, and military records. </li><li>Provide statistical support for studies involving human performance, health outcomes, readiness, administrative data, and operational performance. </li><li>Develop innovative analytical methods and approaches to resolve highly complex, multifactorial problems with minimal oversight. </li><li>Retrieve, integrate, clean, and transform military health, personnel, and deployment records into usable analytical datasets. </li><li>Conduct statistical modeling and longitudinal analyses using tools such as SAS, R, Python, and MATLAB. </li><li>Draft technical reports, data visualizations, scientific journal publications, and briefings for USAFSAM leadership and stakeholders. </li><li>Participate in interdisciplinary teams to evaluate research questions, refine study designs, and translate findings into strategic recommendations. </li><li>Apply verification and validation protocols to ensure modeling integrity; troubleshoot and correct model performance as needed. </li><li>Support development of comprehensive data dictionaries, metadata, and documentation of all analytic code and methods. </li><li>Attend and contribute to professional conferences, prepare poster presentations, and submit manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication. </li><li>Facilitate knowledge transfer through internal briefings, technical documentation, and government customer engagement. </li><li>Obtain and maintain access permissions to relevant Air Force data repositories and systems. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Position Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum MS in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Operations Research, or closely related discipline.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience</p> </li><li> <p>At least 3 years of professional experience applying mathematical and statistical methods, preferably in health or operational domains.</p> </li><li> <p>Technical Proficiency</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in at least two of the following: R, Python, MATLAB, Maple, Visual Basic, or similar languages.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with SAS and SAS Enterprise Guide.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong understanding of statistical modeling processes, including model verification, validation, and heuristics.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in logical and set operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Capacity to learn and apply analytical platforms such as Tableau, SAS Viya, or Qualtrics.</p> </li><li> <p>Skills</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced analytical skills in statistical modeling, decision analysis, and longitudinal data analysis.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communication skills, with the ability to create documentation requiring minimal revision.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary team.</p> </li><li> <p>Organizational skills, initiative, and ability to manage multiple complex tasks.</p> </li><li> <p>Compliance</p> </li><li> <p>Must complete HIPAA training and handle identified medical data securely.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have a signed NDA submitted to the Government Program Manager before performance start</p> </li></ul> <p>Highly Desired Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience with:</p> </li><li> <p>Stochastic and deterministic model development.</p> </li><li> <p>Spreadsheet-based modeling, Monte Carlo simulations, survival analysis, and other advanced statistical techniques.</p> </li><li> <p>SAS programming and military or healthcare data environments.</p> </li><li> <p>Strategy tables, sensitivity/tornado analyses, and decision tree modeling.</p> </li><li> <p>Five or more years of recent experience in data science, particularly in healthcare.</p> </li><li> <p>One or more years applying mathematical decision analysis in a military context.</p> </li></ul> <p>SierTeK is an equal opportunity employer.
