<p>General Statement of Duties:</p> <p>The Assistant Residential Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the full coordination of the day-to-day program aspects of the home, including supervision of direct service personnel & medical liaisons, as well as coordination of all existing programs including medical & financial, for maximum benefit to each resident.</p> <p>Outline of Responsibilities:</p> <p>A. PROGRAMATIC - Implement programs for each resident</p> <ol> <li> <p>Aware of all current resident programs, ensuring their implementation and that all records are up to date and accurate. This includes daily documentation audits such as EVV and Therap, and re-training and disciplinary actions for staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Act as a resident advocate.</p> </li><li> <p>Teach and supervise residents and actual hands-on performance of tasks, which include, but are not limited to, the following areas:</p> </li></ol> <p>A. Personal hygiene (toileting, bathing, shaving, etc.)</p> <p>B. Living skills (dressing, cooking, laundry, cleaning, etc.)</p> <p>C. Survival skills (evacuation, travel, phone usage, etc.)</p> <p>D. Leisure activities (hobbies, outside recreation, etc.)</p> <p>E. Medication (storage, dispensing, record keeping, etc.)</p> <p>F. Health (self care, examinations, etc.)</p> <p>G. Socialization (in-house, public, peers, etc.)</p> <ol start="4"> <li> <p>Make certain that all residents have food, clothing, and other daily living items in sufficient quantity and quality.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend all ISP meetings, vocational ISP meetings and court dates and supply input.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in ensuring many and varied recreational activities are planned and attended.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and support in the proper use of medications and accurate record keeping.</p> </li><li> <p>Accomplish any additional requirements to ensure quality of care, and/or duties as assigned by the agency.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in ensuring all DDS regulations are being followed</p> </li></ol> <p>B. STAFFING</p> <ol> <li>Supervise staff working on the premises. This includes, but is not limited to: </li></ol> <p>A. Involvement in the interviewing of applicants</p> <p>B. Orientation of Staff to sites</p> <p>C. Teaching and indoctrination of staff (initial & on-going)</p> <p>D. Initiating disciplinary action as needed.</p> <p>E. Initiating internal letters of commendation as needed.</p> <p>F. Staff observations and correction/re-training as needed.</p> <p>G. Advocate to the Sr. Dir. of Independent Living for staff needs.</p> <p>H. Train staff in Worker's Compensation and ensure that the First Report of Injury is submitted within 24 hours of the incident.</p> <ol start="2"> <li> <p>Ensure adequate coverage when on-call.</p> </li><li> <p>Create and foster a positive, safe, professional work environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Accomplish any additional requirements needed to develop a stable, well-trained staff.</p> </li></ol> <p>C. PHYSICAL PLANT</p> <ol> <li> <p>Conduct weekly safety checks, ensuring the cleanliness, safety and comfort of the homes & vehicles and submit maintenance requests as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Prevent misuse, including personal use, of all agency property.</p> </li><li> <p>Act creatively for the improvement of all agency owned or leased properties.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with all van maintenance, includes bringing the van to monthly Fleet Care.</p> </li><li> <p>Accomplish any additional duties needed to maintain a clean, comfortable, and pleasant home environment for the residents of HART.</p> </li></ol> <p>D. OTHER</p> <ol> <li> <p>Attend all mandatory in-services.</p> </li><li> <p>Respect the confidentiality, privacy, and human rights of all residents.</p> </li><li> <p>Act as a positive role model to all staff and residents.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform all necessary and assigned paperwork.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend all meetings and seminars pertinent to the operation of the Home, as assigned by Sr. Dir. Of Independent Living.</p> </li><li> <p>Direct care and medical liaison responsibilities as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in the DDS licensing process.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other related duties as requested by the Sr. Dir. Of Independent Living and/or the Executive Director.</p> </li><li> <p>Report significant findings and provide recommendations to Administrative staff and other involved departments.</p> </li><li> <p>Act as a representative of the agency and provide positive customer service to DDS employees, guardians/family members & community members.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain/obtain computer skills and assist/train staff in use of the agency computers and any web-based programs utilized.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain knowledge of and ensure adherence to all HART/DDS policies and procedures.</p> </li></ol> <p>It is the responsibility of each employee to:</p> <p>Ensure his/her own safety as well as the safety of those around them. This is accomplished by following procedures established by the employer, wearing protective equipment provided by the employer, reporting any hazards that may cause unsafe working conditions, attending orientation and continuing education programs.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>A.S. degree in Special Education, Human Services, or related field or at least three years' experience working in a residential setting. Management experience preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Current in DDS Medication Certification & C.P.R.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Connecticut driver's license and insurable by the agency's insurance carrier.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to drive a 10-12 passenger van with or without a wheelchair lift.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to squat and bend over as well as the ability to lift, pull or push (wheelchairs, bulk products, etc.)</p> </li></ol>
