Their primary role is to help students navigate the challenges and conflicts that arise during their middle school years.</p> <p>Essential Performance Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Individual counseling </li><li>Group counseling </li><li>Classroom lessons </li><li>Crisis intervention </li><li>Parent collaboration </li><li>Referral and coordination </li><li>Documentation and assessment </li><li>Section 504 Facilitator - Overseeing and coordinating the implementation of Section 504 plans in an educational setting by scheduling and facilitating meetings with students, parents, and teachers to develop, review, and update Section 504 plans. </li><li>MTSS: Focusing on providing targeted interventions to students who are struggling academically or behaviorally by collaborating with other educators and specialists to identify students in need of additional support, particularly those who are falling behind grade-level expectations. </li></ul> <p>Overall, the school counselor plays a crucial role in promoting students' well-being, fostering positive social-emotional growth, and supporting their academic success.</p> <p>Experience</p> <p>Experience in middle school levels preferred as a school counselor.</p> <p>Qualifications Profile - Current state of Connecticut certification 068 School Counseling</p> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment. </li><li>Masters Degree preferred. </li></ul>
