<p>Position Summary: The First Line Supervisor works to achieve operational targets and standards by directing hourly employees to complete tasks that have a direct impact on overall results within assigned job area(s). Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure assigned tasks are achieved through supervision of direct reports </li><li>Plan and administer procedures and budgets in compliance with collective bargaining agreement </li><li>Lead and direct the workforce in problem identification, problem solving, and implementing continuous improvement measures </li><li>Engage team leaders and employees to improve department/area processes and performance </li><li>Manage overall performance within a 10-20 employee department (adherence to standard work, attendance, safety, code of conduct, etc.) to achieve expected standards in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Cost </li><li>Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations, which includes protecting the environment and community </li><li>Interview, select, and provide training for team leaders and employees </li><li>Create a work environment conducive to employee morale and motivation to accomplish performance objectives </li><li>Manage performance including setting/adjusting pay rates, rewarding/recognizing, and disciplining </li><li>Communicate with team leaders daily and make decisions on issues related to productivity </li><li>Communicate daily with other shifts and peers regarding safety, quality, productivity, staffing, equipment, and continuous improvement activities </li><li>Act as the first point of contact for team leaders in escalation process of problems/concerns </li><li>Communicate AdvanSix Operating System principles to employees to improve their understanding and execution </li><li>Communicate and conduct performance appraisals, both formal and informal </li><li>Drive the creation and improvement of standardized work </li><li>Audit team leaders standardized work to ensure adherence to standard processes and procedures </li><li>Make departmental decisions around waiving or deviating established procedures, considering all safety, environmental, or operational protocols and requirements </li><li>Conduct training and audit standardized work </li><li>Manage and adjust employee work schedules </li><li>Establish and share best-in-class manufacturing processes </li><li>Lead and execute the 5S activities to maintain the area to standard </li><li>Drive a continuous improvement culture by instilling Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology </li><li>Constantly search for improvement and continually seek to eliminate waste </li><li>Evaluate, address, and support employee suggestions and ideas for continuous improvement </li><li>Practice rapid-problem solving processes to ensure corrective action at the appropriate level </li><li>Execute the escalation process, as appropriate </li></ul> <p>Basic Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical or related field preferred </li><li>At least 3-5 years of Process Instrumentation experience required in a manufacturing, industrial, and/or chemical plant environment </li><li>At least 3 years of Supervisory experience preferred Additional Qualifications: </li><li>At least 3 years of CEMS Instrumentation experience required (Continuous Emission Monitoring System) </li><li>Experience working in a 24/7 operation preferred </li><li>Experience working on a rotating shift preferred </li><li>May require working in adverse weather conditions (cold, hot, humid, rain, snow, etc.) </li><li>Knowledge of and experience working in chemical process operations preferred </li><li>Experience working in a unionized environment preferred </li><li>Strong commitment to safety </li><li>Knowledge and demonstrated use of Six Sigma Lean tools preferred </li><li>Computer proficiency in ERP/ Timekeeping (SAP/RF, Kronos preferred), and Microsoft Office </li><li>Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills </li><li>Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude </li><li>Demonstrated leadership skills </li><li>Demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve safety and productivity goals </li><li>Demonstrated conflict resolution skills </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a unionized environment </li><li>Demonstrated ability to initiate and implement change </li></ul> <p>The expected base pay for this position is $86,400 - $129,600</p>
