<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Along the far-reaching stretch of Grand Strand coastline, Myrtle Beach State Park sits nestled among oceanfront maritime forest. A quiet, and surprisingly green, escape from the otherwise bustling beach, the park provides educational opportunities, a nature trail and some of the best surf fishing South Carolina has to offer as well as stunning ocean views and another great fishing spot on Myrtle Beach pier.</p> <p>Job Purpose and Duties:</p> <p>Under direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds with an emphasis on maintenance and repairs of all equipment. Performs repairs and conducts maintenance on grounds equipment through established procedures and guidelines. Assists in planning and scheduling of maintenance activities and maintains records of equipment. Maintains inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies. Assists in the training and supervision of all assigned personnel on operation and upkeep of equipment and tools. Assists in general park maintenance to include the repair and construction of facilities and infrastructure; and housekeeping duties as necessary.</p> <p>1) Directs or perform repairs of motorized equipment, especially that which is used in his/her area, to include pumps, mowers, weed eaters, park vehicles, carts, shuttles, chainsaws, woodworking equipment, and hand tools.</p> <p>2) Following established guidelines, assists with the coordination of short-term and long-term park maintenance planning and implementation. Plans and schedules park maintenance program on a daily basis. Participates in planning specialized work projects and the completion of these projects in a timely fashion.</p> <p>3) Directs and performs clean-up and housekeeping activities to assure the attractiveness, cleanliness, and safety of park grounds and facilities.</p> <p>4) Performs duties related to material management with coordination through the Maintenance Supervisor.</p> <p>5) Assists with the operation of the park by completing related forms and reports, ordering and stocking bulk items used for repair and clean-up.</p> <p>6) Perform continuous public relations activities.</p> <p>7) Practice and promote teamwork within the work unit/office, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of general maintenance experience.</p> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <p>1) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents, and other materials, tools and equipment used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.</p> <p>2) Licensed or competent in electrical, plumbing and carpentry trades. Should be able to read and understand written procedures and directions, understand blueprints, and be able to write specifications for materials.</p> <p>3) Must possess a valid S.C. driver license.</p> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Actual Job Location: Myrtle Beach State Park</p> <p>Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.</p> <p>The South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer.</p>
