<p>This is an open and continuous announcement until May 27th, 2026. Qualified applicants will be considered and referred as vacancies become available.</p> <p>The New York Harbor VA Healthcare System is recruiting a Registered Nurse (Nurse Manager) for the Med-Surg/Oncology Chemotherapy units.</p> <p>The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. </li><li>Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. </li><li>Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. </li><li>Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. </li><li>Equips staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. </li><li>Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). </li><li>Leads the provision of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. </li><li>Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. </li><li>Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. </li><li>Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. </li><li>Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence based cutting-edge programs/processes. </li><li>Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes within the immediate practice setting. </li><li>Leads the implementation of high reliability principles and I CARE values to increase consistency of care delivered and improve patient outcomes. </li><li>Cultivates alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability to improve the effectiveness of communications and interactions with others, to inspire their cooperation and confidence to ensure safe and effective outcomes in the current practice setting. </li><li>Leads education initiatives to expand knowledge and applies evidence-based practice/research resulting in improved outcomes in the immediate practice setting. </li><li>This position may require additional duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Experience:</p> <ul> <li>2-3 years progressive leadership experience in an acute care medical surgical or telemetry clinical setting </li><li>Chemo Oncology experience </li><li>Masters Degree in Nursing </li><li>Department of Veterans Affairs Nursing Leadership </li></ul> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>Work Schedule: 7:30am -4:00pm</p> <p>Telework: Not available</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized</p>
