<p>Position Description:</p> <p>The Computer Support Specialist - macOS position will report to the Director of Digital Infrastructure and Support Services in the Saint Mary's College Information Technology department. This full-time 12-month position is responsible for the management of end-user computing and the centralized systems required to provide a secure and robust desktop experience.</p> <p>Position Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associates' or bachelors' degree with a technical major such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field field is highly desirable. Five years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree; </li><li>In-depth technical knowledge of Apple macOS operating systems, complemented with knowledge of Apple hardware and troubleshooting skills. Technical knowledge of iOS and iPadOS is also expected; </li><li>At least three (3) years of experience supporting end-users, preferably in an academic setting; </li><li>At least two (2) years of experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Apple Mobile Device Management and using JamfPro and Apple School Manager (or similar imaging and software distribution tools); </li><li>Proven ability in defining, maintaining, and supporting end-user technology platforms; </li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills; </li><li>Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; </li><li>Effective customer service skills; </li><li>Ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals; </li><li>Ability to shift priorities in an ever-changing environment; </li></ul> <p>Positions Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide technical leadership in the design, automation, improvement, and maintenance of the macOS desktop environment for all College-owned computers/devices. </li><li>Build, develop, and maintain system configurations for Apple Mobile Device Management, also utilizing JamfPro and Apple School Manager. </li><li>Determine current software needs for the computer images installed on all College-owned macOS-based computers/devices. </li><li>Implement the software requests from faculty for the macOS-based computers in classrooms, computer clusters, and other locations as needed. </li><li>Manage software license servers and distribution of licenses as it relates to macOS-based software builds. </li><li>Responsible for the application of security policies on all macOS-based College-owned devices, including the installation of required security software (Bitdefender) and tools such as Admin by Request. </li><li>Manage the installation of macOS-based software images on College-owned computers/devices before deployment, migrate data for faculty and staff receiving replacement equipment, push software, and/or security updates as necessary. </li><li>Make recommendations for the annual purchase of macOS-based College-owned computers/devices, which includes preparation with hardware vendors. </li><li>Maintain the macOS-based hardware refresh cycle schedule, updating spreadsheets and asset tracking systems to prepare for cyclical replacement of College-owned computers/devices for faculty, staff, classrooms, academic areas, and other designated areas. </li><li>Ensure all College-owned macOS computers/devices actively in use comply with current software, hardware, and security requirements defined by Information Technology. </li><li>Assist with "shadow fleet" computers as needed, providing inventory as macOS-based computers are removed from their initial duty cycle and reimagining them as necessary. </li><li>Utilize available tools to perform hardware and software maintenance tasks and troubleshooting. </li><li>Function as top-level macOS technical support for faculty and staff, responding to tracking system reqursts that may require support via e-mail, phone, in-person, or by using remote access tools. </li><li>Create standard operating procedures on all solutions implemented, complete with documented processes and instructions. </li><li>Perform other job-related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
