<p>Discovery Technician</p> <p>Employment Type: 0 - Full-time Regular</p> <p>Pay Range: $41,711.00 - 62,567.00</p> <p>Location: Castle Rock, CO</p> <p>Overtime Exempt: N</p> <p>Elected Office / Department: DISTRICT ATTORNEY</p> <p>Performs case review of felony or misdemeanor filings to ensure all discovery is received from submitting law enforcement agency. Works with and manages various forms of confidential information governed by state and federal law.</p> <p>This position reports to the Office Manager / Senior Paralegal and does not have any direct reports.</p> <p>Applicants are encouraged to submit a cover letter along with their resume.</p> <p>Generally, the hiring range is $41,711-$52,139 annually. For a more detailed overview please view the full Employee Benefit Guide.</p> <p>Job Duties: (The following examples of essential duties are intended to be illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive)</p> <ul> <li>Reviews and examines digital case files for discovery purposes; works closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure the timely receipt of all discovery; procures necessary media and/or reports, monitors appropriate discovery deadlines to ensure timely completion of affected case. </li><li>Collaborates with attorneys, law enforcement personnel, paralegals and legal assistants on discovery matters; logs requests, copies /scans and reviews and organizes discovery files to ensure that files are complete. Utilizes resources to research, investigate, and contact necessary parties to identify discovery requiring additional follow-up. </li></ul> <p>COMPLEXITY/RESPONSIBILITY: Assignments in this class are characterized by working from specific instructions and following standard procedures. Assistance is available in problematic areas; errors may result in the dissemination of inaccurate, incomplete, or confidential information that could adversely affect public or employee relations or criminal cases.</p> <p>SCOPE OF INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are with co- workers, subordinates, superiors, attorneys, other court officials, and other law enforcement and related agencies' personnel.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>High school graduation or GED equivalent required. </li><li>One (1) year of general office experience required. </li><li>One (1) year of experience working in legal or law enforcement setting preferred. </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Self-motivated and attention to detail are essential. </li><li>Ability to learn standard legal/court procedures and legal terminology and forms applicable to the assignment. </li><li>Knowledge of spelling, punctuation and grammar. </li><li>Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize aspects of work to comply with statutorily mandated deadlines. </li><li>Ability to effectively locate documents and prepare discovery. </li><li>Ability to follow semi-complex oral and written instructions. </li><li>Ability to operate standard office equipment, e.g. personal computer, fax, copier, scanner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, fellow workers, attorneys, court officials, other police and related agencies' personnel; ability to communicate effectively with same. </li></ul> <p>CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally confined to a standard office environment and requires no more than normal abilities.</p> <p>ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:</p> <p>Closing Date: 09/5/2025 5:59PM MST. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.</p>
