<p>Description</p> <p>The Lee County Utilities Department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tradesworker - Wastewater Infrastructure to join our team. This position involves advanced technical and trades work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of wastewater system components, including but not limited to: gravity sewer piping, sewer force mains, manholes, valves, pumping stations, and electrical control panels.</p> <p>As a Tradesworker, you will demonstrate proficiency in a specialized trade, operate a variety of equipment, and may serve in a leadership capacity within your crew. This is a great opportunity to grow your career while supporting critical infrastructure for your community.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Troubleshoot electrical control panels using multimeters, amp probes, and megohm meters.</p> </li><li> <p>Set up and operate mobile and heavy equipment, such as:</p> </li><li> <p>Generators</p> </li><li> <p>Vacuum trucks</p> </li><li> <p>Pumper trucks</p> </li><li> <p>Dump trucks</p> </li><li> <p>Small tools</p> </li><li> <p>Perform complex repairs, maintenance, and installations on wastewater system infrastructure.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain and repair sewer valves, pumps, force mains, and piping systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Troubleshoot and resolve malfunctions at sewer pump stations.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform general maintenance at pump station sites (e.g., mowing, weed eating, painting, and landscaping).</p> </li><li> <p>Interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, and technical sketches.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and the public.</p> </li><li> <p>Climb ladders and scaffolding; work in confined spaces and varying environmental conditions.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education, Experience, Licensing</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED equivalent required. </li><li>Minimum six (6) months of relevant experience in public utilities or related fields such as: </li><li>Wastewater or water systems </li><li>Natural gas </li><li>Plumbing </li><li>Electrical </li><li>Irrigation </li><li>Telecommunications installation </li></ul> <p>Licensing Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess aFlorida Class A Commercial Learner's Permit with Tanker Endorsement prior to receiving a job offer. </li><li>Must obtain a Florida Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within 90 days of hire. </li></ul> <p>The Utilities Department will provide training, equipment, and cover all associated costs to help you obtain your CDL.</p> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>This is a safety-sensitive position and subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as per DOT regulation 49 CFR Parts 40 and/or 382. </li><li>Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under minimal supervision. </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>What We Offer:</p> <ul> <li>Hands-on training and support to earn your CDL license </li><li>Stable, full-time position with advancement opportunities </li><li>Collaborative and safety-first work environment </li><li>Chance to serve </li></ul> <p>Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM</p> <p>On-Call: Required rotation including nights, weekends, and holidays</p> <p>To learn more about Lee County Utilities and what it's like to work with us, check out the short video below.</p>
