The report contains information on security policies as well as crime and fire statistics for the University.</p> <p>The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University is seeking a federal work study Guest Services Student Assistant to support visitor access, registration and general operations during law school events.</p> <p>The Student Assistant will be based in the lobby of Preston Hall or Ottinger Hall to assist visitors attending law school events and occasional third-party events. Responsibilities include monitoring building entrances during specified hours, greeting guests, checking in attendees using registration lists, and providing directions and general information to guests on campus. Students in this role will help maintain a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for all visitors, ensuring only approved guests are permitted access.</p> <p>The Student Assistant will also provide general assistance to event staff and contribute to event operations as assigned. He/she will working closely with staff and administration in the Office of External Affairs, the Office of Student Affairs and the Security Office, as well as event managers from other departments and student event leads.</p> <p>Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Monitoring entrances at Ottinger and Preston Hall during assigned events </li><li>Greeting guests and verifying their attendance against registration lists </li><li>Allowing authorized guests access to event spaces </li><li>Communicating promptly with event organizers and/or Security regarding any concerns or issues </li><li>Providing basic information and directions to event attendees </li><li>Assisting with setup and breakdown tasks as needed for select events </li><li>Supporting larger law school events and third-party events when required </li><li>Helping maintain an organized and professional event atmosphere </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule:</p> <ul> <li>Up to 10 hours per week </li><li>Hours vary based on event needs and may include evenings or weekends </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Must be a currently enrolled student eligible for federal work study </li><li>Reliable, punctual, and attentive </li><li>Strong communication and customer-service skills </li><li>Comfortable interacting with guests and following security procedures </li><li>Ability to remain professional and alert during shifts </li></ul> <p>Requirements Include:</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with basic office and communication tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Drive applications) </li><li>Active involvement in campus life or student organizations, with an understanding of student events and guest traffic </li><li>Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately verify information (e.g., registration lists, guest credentials) </li><li>Excellent organization and time-management skills </li><li>Strong interpersonal communication skills and a professional, welcoming demeanor with guests </li><li>Ability to remain attentive, calm, and courteous in fast-paced or high-traffic environments </li><li>Experience in customer service, hospitality, public safety, or event support preferred </li><li>Ability to stand for extended periods and monitor event entrances as needed </li><li>Comfortable enforcing access procedures and following event protocols </li><li>Ability to work independently and take initiative when issues arise </li></ul>
