<p>Hiring Department</p> <p>MizzouRec Services and Facilities is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides quality leisure experiences to all members of the campus community, primarily Mizzou students. Through our facilities and programs, we strive to bring our members and guests an environment that inspires and promotes a healthy, active lifestyle. MizzouRec enhances the student experience by creating a sense of "third place" and belonging with its vast services, facilities, and programming - in addition to its unique connection to campus history and traditions.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>This position is responsible for on-site supervision of frontline event staff, event operations, and assigned facility spaces. Under the direction of the Events Coordinator, the Event Lead assists with training and evaluating frontline team members, maintaining meeting rooms and the Old Varsity Lounge, and collecting and organizing post-event survey data. The role includes weekly office hours, established in collaboration with the Events Coordinator at the start of each semester. The individual must maintain current certification in Adult CPR/AED, Child/Infant CPR, and First Aid for the duration of employment.</p> <p>Employment for this position will begin in August 2026.</p> <p>Office Duties Include (but not limited to)</p> <ul> <li>Distribute post-event surveys and compile results. </li><li>Create signage for upcoming events. </li><li>Create, print, and post door reservation cards. </li><li>Clean, adjust, and reset meeting spaces as needed. </li><li>Organize and inventory all event closets twice per month. </li><li>Handle incoming calls and complete initial intake or guide callers through submitting a request in EMS. </li><li>Support in-service training according to training and meeting requirements. </li><li>Post website announcements for upcoming events and space closures. </li><li>Complete additional tasks assigned by leadership. </li></ul> <p>Event Duties Include (but not limited to)</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the onsite representative for MizzouRec and Event Management, acting as the primary point of contact for each group. </li><li>Oversee event setup and breakdown. </li><li>Respond to emergencies or medical needs as the first responder; maintain CPR/AED, Child/Infant CPR, and First Aid certification. </li><li>Monitor facility security to ensure guest safety and protect proper facility use. </li><li>Provide knowledgeable guidance about MizzouRec facilities, surrounding areas, campus services, and community resources. </li><li>Maintain a friendly demeanor and deliver exceptional customer service to enhance the overall MizzouRec and event experience. </li><li>Foster an open, collaborative environment for both team members and guests. </li><li>Help define and structure team roles and responsibilities for each event. </li><li>Ensure equipment is properly maintained, set, and used throughout events. </li><li>Participate in monthly meetings and in-service trainings to maintain facility and skill proficiency. </li><li>Adhere to all University, MizzouRec, Team Mizzou, and area specific guidelines. </li><li>As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities is expected in order to serve the customer and maintain the MizzouRec mission. </li></ul> <p>Anticipated Hiring Range</p> <p>$15.50 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis.</p> <p>Shift</p> <p>Average hours per week: 15.</p> <p>Shifts vary based on event schedules and may include mornings, evenings, and weekends.</p> <p>This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri. Enrollment in the summer session is not required if the student was enrolled in the Spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the Fall semester. Selection is contingent upon results of a review with the Office of Institutional Equity, Office of Student Accountability & Support, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, previous MU appointment history, and reference checks.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Basic risk-management skills and facility security awareness. </li><li>Experience with event management or scheduling software (e.g., EMS), and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and digital file organization. </li><li>Prior leadership or supervisory experience in student employment, campus programming, or similar settings. </li><li>Demonstrated customer service experience in hospitality, campus recreation, events, or related fields. </li><li>Current American Red Cross CPR/AED certification, or ability to obtain within three months of hire. </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with various clients and groups. </li><li>High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management abilities. </li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. </li><li>Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in fast-paced or dynamic situations. </li><li>Ability to safely lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs) as required for event setup and breakdown. </li></ul> <p>Application Materials</p> <p>Complete application, and upload the following: résumé, class schedule, cover letter, and 3 or more references which must include at least 1 MU supervisor (if applicable).
