<p>POSITION: JV Volleyball Coach</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Athletics Director or Designee</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Seasonal, FLSA Exempt</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent </li><li>Valid Ohio Certification/Licensure by the State of Ohio, Department of Education </li><li>Previous experience as a coach or player in the specific sport(s) being coached. </li><li>Strong knowledge of the rules, strategies, and techniques of the sport(s) being coached. </li><li>Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to motivate, inspire, and build positive relationships with student-athletes. </li><li>Understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in athletics. </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents. </li><li>Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student development. </li><li>Ability to follow directions, maintain confidentiality, and uphold professional standards. </li><li>Valid Ohio Driver's License </li><li>Must pass criminal background check </li><li>Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity Permit (PAP) </li><li>CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification </li><li>Fundamentals of Coaching (NFHS) </li><li>Concussion in Sports (NFHS) </li><li>Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training (Lindsay's Law) </li></ul> <p>GENERAL DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>The Junior Varsity (JV) Softball Coach is responsible for assisting in the development, organization, and supervision of the school's softball program, with a focus on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and preparation of student-athletes for varsity competition. The coach works closely with the Head Varsity Softball Coach and Athletic Department to promote a positive, safe, and educational athletic environment.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, organize, and implement daily practices and game strategies. </li><li>Teach fundamental softball skills and advanced techniques appropriate for high school athletes. </li><li>Supervise and mentor assistant and JV coaches. </li><li>Monitor academic performance and eligibility of student-athletes. </li><li>Promote character development, discipline, and sportsmanship. </li><li>Maintain equipment and manage inventory. </li><li>Organize team transportation, game scheduling, and communication with parents and school personnel. </li><li>Represent the school positively at all athletic and community events. </li><li>Ensure compliance with school policies, OHSAA regulations, and safety standards. </li><li>Collaborate with the Athletic Director for scheduling, budgeting, and program needs. </li><li>Attend all required meetings, trainings, and professional development. </li></ul> <p>OTHER DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings. </li><li>Conducts and presents the position in a professional manner. </li><li>Maintains a positive work attitude. </li><li>Effectively uses verbal, nonverbal, writing, and listening skills. </li><li>Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. </li><li>Physical ability to conduct practices and coach during games. </li><li>Travel may be required for away games and tournaments. </li><li>Actively seeks to acquire knowledge and skills to meet new challenges through involvement in professional development activities. </li><li>Is punctual and thorough in implementation of all assigned duties. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE OF: Board policies and procedures, building policies and procedures, student code of conduct, community resource agencies, emergency preparedness drills, public relations, federal and state reporting, and records management.</p> <p>ABILITY TO: Interpret policies, procedures and regulations, follow instructions, communicate effectively, prepare, maintain, and file accurate and concise reports, collect data, recognize individual differences, lift a moderate amount of weight, develop a rapport with students, staff, co-workers, administration and the public.</p> <p>ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>OCCASIONAL: Exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue, lifting (10-50 pounds) of supplies and materials. Duties may require exposure to adverse weather conditions and seasonal temperature extremes. Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable. Potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases. Potential for interaction with disruptive and/or unruly individuals.</p> <p>PERIODIC: Exposure to loud noise, extreme temperatures from program environment, irritating and hazardous chemicals, fumes, and unruly children and adults. Duties may require operating and/or riding in a vehicle. Duties may require traveling to meetings and work assignments. Duties may require prolonged use of a computer keyboard and monitor. Duties may require working extended hours. Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines.</p> <p>FREQUENT: Prolonged periods of standing and lifting (10-20 pounds) of supplies and materials. Bending, stooping and reaching for items. Follow all Board safety rules and procedures.
