<p>Scope</p> <p>The Elementary Spiritual Formation Teacher works with the English Station administration and staff to develop students with a heart for God. The teacher will be the spiritual leader in the classroom by modeling prayer and love toward students in a Christ-like manner. He/she will effectively plan and execute lessons, with appropriate strategies, for student mastery of content to enhance spiritual growth. The teacher will recognize that all students learn differently and implement motivating and engaging learning strategies designed to meet the needs of all learners. This teaching method will contribute to students' development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women to the praise and glory of God. He/she will also manage /monitor student learning in an encouraging classroom environment allowing students to grow in depth of knowledge. The teacher will engage in professional development training and collaborative learning opportunities for growth in professional relationships and growth in his/her craft of teaching.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:</p> <ul> <li>A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit </li><li>A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school </li><li>Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy School System </li><li>Agreement and belief that the Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind </li></ul> <p>The ideal candidate shall possess:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or higher in Bible or related area of study </li><li>Strong communication and organizational skills </li><li>3+ years of experience working with elementary-aged children (educational background a plus) </li><li>Children's Ministry experience is a plus </li><li>Have completed at least 24 hours in the subject taught for "the major part of the day </li><li>Have completed at least 12 hours of professional education coursework </li><li>Meet certification guidelines required to obtain and maintain active ACSI teacher certification throughout employment </li></ul> <p>Accountabilities/ Responsibilities</p> <p>Spiritual Leadership:</p> <ul> <li>Leads in the development of students' spiritual growth </li><li>Leads students in daily prayer and spiritual devotions </li><li>Models a consistent relationship with Jesus Christ </li><li>Serve as a resource of spiritual formation for elementary-aged students and their parents </li><li>Collaborate with school staff to develop and execute forty-minute lesson plans weekly </li><li>Understand and implement the Matthew 18 principle with students, parents, peers, and administration in an appropriate manner </li></ul> <p>Instructional Planning & Preparation:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy (the art and science of teaching) </li><li>Design lessons with clear, focused, and measurable instructional objectives </li><li>Objectives provide for deliberate skill development in the high-order thinking processes </li></ul> <p>Instructional Delivery:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates a Christian worldview </li><li>Establishes learning expectations with well-defined openings </li><li>Guides students to apply learning to real-world applications </li><li>Implements a variety of strategies to introduce, explain, and restate subject matter concepts </li><li>Selects a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child-spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional </li><li>Employs a variety of questioning techniques that enhance critical thinking </li></ul> <p>Classroom Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Creates a learning environment promoting positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation; creates an environment of respect and rapport through reinforcement and praise </li><li>Encourages students to accept God and the gift of salvation and grow in their faith </li><li>Provides opportunities for students to lead prayer and devotions </li><li>Provides opportunities for students to develop a Christian mind and lifestyle </li><li>Manages student behavior: implements classroom rules, routines, and procedures that allow a student to assume his/her responsibility </li><li>Ensures physical space is well-ordered and conducive to learning </li></ul> <p>Professionalism and Communication:</p> <ul> <li>Communicates in a positive, clear manner and uses accurate grammar and spelling in written form </li><li>Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner </li><li>Keep timely and accurate student records/grades in RenWeb and submit weekly lesson plans </li><li>Maintain communication with staff concerning integration of the Bible into the classroom/school day as needed </li><li>Communicates with families about students' progress regularly and responds to family/student concerns in a timely and appropriate manner </li><li>Build positive relationships with area ministers and churches if needed </li><li>Carry a teachable spirit and assume responsibility for actions </li><li>Maintain confidentiality and support, listens, and views school success as a team effort </li></ul> <p>Professional Development:</p> <ul> <li>Seeks out opportunities for professional development and participates to enhance content knowledge and pedagogical skill </li><li>Creates a professional growth plan demonstrating progress in content areas and instructional methods </li></ul> <p>Additional Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Oversees, participates, and/or lead chapel music in elementary chapel </li><li>Provide support to school staff through carpool duty each day - mornings and afternoons </li><li>Support the school staff and administrators through cafeteria duty weekly </li></ul> <p>Outcomes</p> <ul> <li>Meaningful Christ-centered lessons </li><li>Deeper understanding of God, our Father, and Jesus Christ, our Savior, for students </li><li>Students understand and apply God's word in daily life </li></ul> <p>Reporting Relationship</p> <p>The Spiritual Formation Teacher will report to the Elementary Principal.</p>
