<p>General Job Information</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>This position is located in the D.C. Department of Corrections, Office of the Deputy Warden for Programs. The primary purpose of this position is to perform administrative, program and clerical work to support an assigned program and its operations. Incumbent applies an extensive clerical, administrative and technical procedures, methods, and techniques to support management and the program.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Responds to a variety of inquiries and refers other inquiries to appropriate office staff or to other organizations, as required. Ascertains the nature of call or business of visitors and determines appropriate action. Personally, handles many requests for information; and resolves or assists in resolving a variety of conflicts that may arise. Receives and screens incoming correspondence; determines those correspondence that can be acted upon personally; and refers correspondence to supervisor or other appropriate staff personnel, as appropriate.</p> <p>Maintains office records, locates, and compiles data/information from files for the development of reports. Keeps a project calendar and informs staff of deadlines, other important dates, and similar administrative support work.Composes general correspondence pertaining to administrative matters, such as letters, memoranda, reports, etc. Reviews correspondence and documents that were prepared for signature of the supervisor or higher-level managers; and contacts appropriate official or office when errors are identified.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION</p> <p>Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, at least one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.</p> <p>LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS</p> <p>None</p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>The work is typically performed at a correctional facility in an office setting that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Normal safety precautions are required.</p> <p>OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS</p> <p>Tour of Duty: Monday- Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm</p> <p>Pay Plan, Series, and Grade: CS-0303-07</p> <p>Promotion Potential: No known promotion potential.</p> <p>Duration of Appointment: Career Service-Regular Appt</p> <p>Collective Bargaining Unit: This position may be covered by a collective bargaining agreement. You may be required to pay an agency service fee through payroll deduction.</p> <p>Position Designation: The incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability - Safety Sensitive. This position is subject to mandatory pre-employment and periodic Criminal Background Checks.
