<p>The Director of Logistics is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing logistics strategy and transportation operations to optimize cost, quality, and service across the supply chain. This role will collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including Procurement, Operations, and Sales, to drive team success and support the company's growth. This individual will be responsible for designing and improving our systems and processes to more effectively coordinate all logistics functions. The person in this role must have experience in all aspects of logistics operations, including carrier management, route optimization, delivery arrangements, and cost control. The Director of Logistics should lead and inspire their team by focusing on the development, implementation, and execution of better tools and strategies to enable the team to achieve excellence in their field.</p> <p>Who You Are:</p> <ul> <li>A strategic thinker with a proven track record of optimizing logistics systems and processes to support a team of professionals. </li><li>Skilled in carrier negotiations and risk mitigation strategies. </li><li>Experienced in leading logistics initiatives that drive cost savings and efficiency improvements. </li><li>Highly organized, disciplined, results-oriented, analytical thinker with a desire to learn, grow, and teach your craft as the team grows. </li><li>A strong communicator with the ability to build and maintain key carrier relationships. </li><li>Adept at managing multiple projects and leading cross-functional collaboration to create support and alignment for logistics initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement logistics strategies to meet business objectives and operational needs. </li><li>Identify and establish relationships with key carriers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and service. </li><li>Lead carrier negotiations and agreements to drive cost savings and mitigate supply chain risks. </li><li>Monitor market trends, industry best practices, and regulatory changes to enhance logistics processes. </li><li>Oversee the transportation process, including carrier selection, bid evaluations, and contract administration. </li><li>Develop and manage logistics budgets, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining quality standards. </li><li>Implement performance metrics and reporting tools to track logistics activities and carrier performance. </li><li>Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align logistics strategies with company goals. </li><li>Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical logistics practices. </li><li>Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing logistics team. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). </li><li>10+ years of logistics experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. </li><li>Strong negotiation skills with experience managing multi-million-dollar transportation contracts. </li><li>Knowledge of logistics best practices, cost reduction strategies, and carrier risk management. </li><li>Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. </li><li>Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Excellent communication, leadership, and team management abilities. </li></ul> <p>About the Company:</p> <p>Kalmbach Feeds, Inc. is a leading animal nutrition organization dedicated to delivering high-quality products and services to its customers.
