<p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Provides hands-on dental care in a variety of settings while achieving the highest levels of appropriateness, quality, efficiency, accessibility and responsiveness. </li></ul> <p>Performance expectations:</p> <ul> <li>Maintains full appointment schedule for office practice and other settings </li><li>Meets patient needs as they arise </li><li>Utilizes state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment techniques and delegates and refers care as appropriate </li><li>Maintains necessary credentialing, licensure and continuing education requirements </li><li>Provides a full range of general dental services within the dentist's defined scope of training </li><li>Demonstrate understanding and commitment of the health center mission </li><li>Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the established CHC Values and Standards </li><li>Provides clinical leadership of dental program. </li></ul> <p>Performance expectations:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise clinical staff (Dentists, Residents, Dental Assistants & Hygiene Students) </li><li>Ensure clinic's compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, DPH, HRSA) </li><li>Evaluat and add additional services provided by the organization </li><li>Develop, implement and maintain dental policies and procedures related to clinical operations </li><li>Oversee the clinic's quality assurance program </li><li>Oversee the clinic's infection control program </li><li>Oversee protocols for the maintenance of all clinical equipment </li><li>Develop, implement and maintain clinical protocols for the delivery of patient care services </li><li>Develop protocols for the management and resolution of patient complaints </li><li>Develop and oversee the system used to report and resolve incidents within the dental program </li><li>Determine the dental products to be used in the clinic </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions and Physical Effort</p> <ul> <li>Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises </li><li>Moderate physical activity. Requires handling average-weight objects up to 15-20 pounds, assisting patients and standing and/or walking for most the day </li><li>Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training </li><li>Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skill and Technical Qualities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to maintain quality, safety and/or infection control standards </li><li>Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of modern dentistry and oral surgery </li><li>Thorough knowledge of dental terminology and dental science </li><li>Thorough understanding of the theories, methods and procedures for the prevention of dental diseases and the required corrective treatment </li><li>Knowledge of community-based dental environment </li><li>Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments </li><li>Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of dental evaluations, diagnosis and treatment </li><li>Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements </li><li>Knowledge of ethical and legal standards for the delivery of dental care </li><li>Ability to observe, assess and record symptoms, reactions and progress </li><li>Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aides and ability to prescribe dosage and instruct patients in correct usage </li><li>Ability to develop and implement individualized dental care plans for patients </li></ul> <p>Behavioral Qualities</p> <ul> <li>Displays outstanding leadership skills </li><li>Able to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment </li><li>Able to offer guidance and supervision in a constructive and appropriate manner </li><li>Able to effectively lead staff meetings to review team progress in meeting financial and productivity goals for the dental program </li><li>Responds constructively to pressure situations and time limits </li><li>Places a high value on personal and departmental performance excellence </li><li>Adheres to office dress code and standards of behavior </li><li>Maintains patient confidentiality </li><li>Uses sick time appropriately </li></ul> <p>Education/Licensure Requirements</p> <ul> <li>DDS or DMD degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in general dentistry </li><li>Current licensure in the state of Massachusetts </li><li>Valid DEA license to prescribe narcotics </li><li>Current CPR/AED certification </li><li>Min 7 yrs dental experience </li><li>Min 5 yrs leadership role preferred </li></ul>
