<p>POSITION TITLE: Occupational Therapist DEPARTMENT: Special Education</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY: The Occupational Therapist will evaluate, plan, and provide occupational therapy for students enrolled in Confluence Academies network of schools. This position administers occupational therapy assessments to determine a student's level of functioning relative to their age and educational placement in such areas as fine/gross motor skill development, sensory-motor integration, self-care, and the activities of daily living. The Occupational Therapist will work directly with the Director of Special Education and collaboratively with Process Coordinators to evaluate the</p> <p>effectiveness of individual student plans to sustain or restore the highest possible level of independence.</p> <p>ESS§ENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: include the following. Other duties may be assigned</p> <ul> <li>Provides occupational therapy services, as identified through the IEP/504 plan, to students enrolled in the educational programs </li><li>Writes assessment reports identifying the student's needs and proposed treatment strategies </li><li>Writes individual student goals and objectives as part of the IEP and maintains progress records </li><li>Develops occupational treatment plans and goals for rehabilitative care to improve student functional abilities and enhance their ability to learn </li><li>Participate as a member of the IEP team when discussing occupational therapy services </li><li>Provides students with individual treatment and group therapy sessions to correct specific areas of sensory-motor integrative dysfunction </li><li>Focus on the students' strengths, and can design and implement programming to improve inclusion and accessibility </li><li>Help children fulfill their role as students by supporting academic goals and equipping children with tools for behaviors necessary for success in the learning environment </li><li>Maintain good communication and strong working relationship with other school staff, students and parents. </li><li>Inform families of community resources </li><li>Attend meetings and training sessions related to occupational therapy as deemed appropriate by the Director of Special </li><li>Maintains confidentiality and non-judgmental views of children and </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.</p> <p>Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of (3) years of demonstrated experience in related area of concentration.</p> <p>Certification: Valid license issued by Missouri Board of Occupational Therapy or possess appropriate credentials to prove eligibility for Missouri license. Candidate must maintain must maintain credentials accordingly.</p> <p>Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of mangers, clients, customers, and the general public.</p> <p>Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.</p> <p>Other Skills and Abilities: Must be able to transport between school buildings and cities. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all Confluence requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to utilize technology in establishing appropriate record keeping program for students, programs, and staff.</p> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires meeting deadlines with severe time constraints, interacting with the public and staff, irregular or extended work hours. The employee is responsible for safety, well-being, and work output of others. Must be able to meet demands from several people.</p>
