You would perform the duties of a first-level professional clinician under the supervision of the Chief Physical Therapist. You might supervise Physical Therapy Assistants.</p> <ul> <li>Plans, carries out, treatment plans as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team </li><li>Evaluates the physical and neurological status of patients and plans individual treatment programs. </li><li>Plans and supervises the instruction of trainees; and reviews and inspects the work of subordinates. </li><li>Performs and interprets results of tests and measurements of the patient's condition for use in preparing the treatment plan, modifying treatment and evaluating results of treatment. </li><li>Performs special tests to determine existence of neurological conditions or disease; carries out complex test procedures, determines kind and degree of muscular reactions to test, and interprets results of test. </li><li>Plans and administers physical therapy for patients who have severe or acute physical disabilities, such as fractures, amputations, hemiplegia, peripheral nerve injuries, or other forms of paralysis. </li><li>Selects, administers, and monitors therapeutic treatment modalities, which may include heat, cold, light, air, water, sound, electricity, massage, mobilization, and therapeutic exercise with or without assistive devices. </li><li>Performs equipment evaluation and supervised modification. </li><li>Consulting Person for Adaptive Equipment, Bed Safety and Home Environment. </li><li>Utilizes the Electronic Health Records for documentation and billing </li><li>Serves as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team; attends individual case reviews and team meetings as the physical therapy representative; and coordinates physical therapy activities with those of other disciplines or therapy programs. </li><li>Participates in the development and implementation of physical therapy policies and procedures. </li><li>Travel responsibilities to group homes in Brooklyn/Staten Island. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/nys-office-for-people-with-developmental-disabilities/posts/?feedView=all</p> <p>#LI-JJ1</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive: license and current registration as a Physical Therapist in New York State.</p> <p>Additional Comments Please note this position covers the following locations:</p> <p>Article 16 Clinic</p> <p>750 Vandalia Ave</p> <p>Brooklyn, NY 11239</p> <p>1150 Forest Hill Rd., Bld.#15L,</p> <p>Staten Island, NY 10314</p> <p>This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.</p> <p>At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.</p> <ul> <li>Please note that starting salary for this title reflects the geographic differential and downstate adjustment. Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 20 ($74,193), Geographic Differential ($13,000) and Downstate Adjustment ($4,000). Geographic Differential and Downstate Adjustment is added to the job rate ($94,121). </li><li>If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee. </li><li>The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies. </li><li>Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures. If you are being impacted by closure, please indicate this on your resume. </li><li>All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility. </li><li>If you are employed by state government you may be able to receive loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments have been made under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
