<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>This position will manage all aspects of the Business Department while maintaining a teaching load. Responsibilities include providing leadership and management of the department, including initiatives such as Dual Credit and Youth Apprenticeship programs, and managing department courses and faculty at all campuses and remote sites. The Department Head's responsibilities also include the following:</p> <ul> <li>Developing, assessing and revising curriculum on regular basis to meet the needs of students and the community. </li><li>Developing, implementing, managing, assessing and revising initiatives for improved student learning and academic success in business, management, economics, and other programs within the department. </li><li>Assuming responsibility for the development, consolidation, accuracy and distribution of the department's course schedule. </li><li>Screening and recommending full-time faculty and staff hires; managing the evaluation system for the department in an effective manner; and ensuring timely hiring, supervision, management and evaluation of part-time faculty. </li><li>Resolving student complaints and grievances within the department. </li><li>Assisting the Dean with managing student advisement and registration activities. </li><li>Managing department resources, including budget preparation and department inventory; approving operational and personnel expenditures. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>This position requires a master's degree in economics, business administration (MBA), management or a closely related field; or a master's degree plus eighteen (18) hours graduate credit hours in economics, business, or management and three (3) years of progressively responsible related work experience. Preferred candidate will have supervisory and teaching experience. Faculty positions are unclassified and salary is commensurate with education and experience.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>The successful candidate needs a clear understanding of overall college policies and procedures, particularly those related to curriculum design and revision, course scheduling, registration, and student advisement. Previous teaching experience is essential. Prior supervisory experience is preferred. Experience with curriculum assessment and student learning outcomes is vital. The successful candidate should also have experience with SACSCOC and/or ACBSP accreditation. Also required are excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with diverse populations in the community and the college. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential. The candidate must thoroughly know Ellucian, D2L, Outlook, Excel, and Word. Must be able to function in an environment characterized by continual changes in information technology. Active participation on college committees and teams or professional organizations is a plus.</p> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Applicants MUST complete the online SC State Jobs Employment Application.
