<p>Description</p> <p>On-Scene Volunteer Advocates' Coordinator (VC1)</p> <p>Victim Specialist - On-Scene Advocates' Coordinator</p> <p>2026 Hiring Range:</p> <p>Monthly: $5,589 - $6,819</p> <p>Annually: $67,068 - $81,828</p> <p>2026 Salary Range:</p> <p>Monthly: $5,589 - $8,050</p> <p>Annually: $67,068 - $96,600</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Boulder County Sheriff's Office's (BCSO) Community Assistance Program through our Victim Assistance team provides service to victims of serious personal crimes or traumatic incidents by having trained volunteers respond to the victims, either immediately on-scene, or as quickly as possible after a crime or critical incident occurs. The work is accomplished by a team of volunteer victim advocates working on-call to provide immediate response and another team providing outreach to victims. The On-Scene Volunteer Advocates' Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the on call schedule, managing the administrative tasks of the On-Scene volunteers service at BCSO, supervising the On-Scene Volunteer Advocates' responses to crimes scenes during regular business hours, sharing the afterhours & holiday on-call supervisor duty with the other Victim Assistance staff, responding to scenes when necessary, and monitoring crime reports from the BCSO, Lafayette PD, and Louisville PD to provide outreach to victims who have not been served by the on-call on-scene volunteer advocates. The On-Scene Volunteer Advocates' Coordinator shares responsibility for recruiting, vetting, and training all volunteer advocates with the program director and the other Victim Assistance Team staff. The On-Scene Volunteer Advocates' Coordinator supervises around 30 volunteers advocates who contact victims of crime to provide information about their rights under the Colorado Victims' Rights Act, provides crisis intervention, community resources, and referrals.</p> <p>This position requires a 40-hour work week with the ability to be flexible, working some evenings and weekend hours. This position also responds to Critical Events and may require presence in off hours. This position reports directly to the Programs' Director.</p> <p>New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month.</p> <p>Boulder County is a family-friendly workplace dedicated to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful environment for all employees. If the hiring manager selects you to advance in the hiring process, your cover letter and resume will then be accessible to the hiring team.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <ul> <li>Supervises 30+ volunteer victim advocates in their on-scene activities, i.e., trauma informed crisis response to victims of crime. </li><li>Provides direct services to victims of crime and traumatic events, which includes but not limited to, crisis intervention, emotional support, victim rights information, education on criminal justice system, connection to community resources, and short-term case management. </li><li>Provides both trauma informed and victim-centered approaches when working with the victims of crime and traumatic events. </li><li>Responds directly to incidents, as necessary, when paged by law enforcement. </li><li>Understands, upholds, and assists in the education of victim rights per statutory and constitutional law. </li><li>Schedules the Volunteer Advocates for their monthly on-call shifts and maintains the On-Call/On-Scene monthly calendar. </li><li>Records and maintains data for statistical purposes. </li><li>Develop and maintain working relationships with key contacts within the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Lafayette PD, Louisville PD, and other agencies and service providers in the County to care for victims of crime. </li><li>Maintains and updates the programs On-Scene community resource folders. </li><li>Attends meetings, workshops, trainings, conferences as assigned to maintain ongoing knowledge of laws and resources. </li><li>Participate, along with the program director & staff, in recruiting activates, interviews, and the selection of volunteer advocates hired in the Victim Assistance Program and then the certification training of new Volunteer Victim Advocates. </li><li>Directly supervises, completes administrative tasks, and supports the On-Scene Volunteers including a minimum of two individuals in office meetings each year with each On-Scene Volunteer Advocate. </li><li>Carries a pager and supervises the On-Scene Volunteer Advocatess during normal business hours andparticipates on a rotating 7-day cycle of afterhours On Call Supervisor. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the Colorado Victims' Rights Act and Amendments, victim assistance, and the criminal justice system. </li><li>Skills in crisis interventions and a working knowledge of trauma informed crisis response. </li><li>Ability to understand and relate to diverse populations. </li><li>Working knowledge of the principles and practices of volunteer management. </li><li>Verbal & written communication skills </li><li>Organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and balance the workload. </li><li>Technology - entering data, using spreadsheets, Microsoft including TEAMS </li><li>Ability to work effectively with other employees and the public while being compassionate & empathetic, and nonjudgemental & non-bias. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, or related field </li><li>Two years of professional experience in related human services field or equivalent combination of education and experience </li><li>Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license and proof of a clean driving record </li><li>Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and a polygraph examination </li></ul> <p>Bilingual English/Spanish candidates preferred.</p> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Physical Requirements: Primarily sedentary physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing; frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard and office equipment; vision for reading, recording and interpreting information; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and members of the public.</p> <p>From "Dictionary of Occupational Titles", U.S. Dept. of Labor:</p> <p>Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time.</p> <p>Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.</p> <p>Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time.</p>
