<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Audiovisual Equipment Technician I performs preventive maintenance and minor repair of audiovisual equipment, operates audiovisual equipment, provides in-person and remote support to end users using audiovisual equipment, and performs related work as required. Common equipment includes but is not limited to digital projectors, switchers, controllers, interactive touchscreens, document cameras, and other classroom and teleconferencing equipment. The AV Technician provides excellent customer service with the delivery of classroom instructional media as well as AV services for events.</p> <p>Responsibilities and Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Performs preventive maintenance and minor repair of audiovisual equipment and decides if equipment should be repaired or replaced. </li><li>Gives technical advice and instructions on such matters as the use, maintenance and repair of audiovisual equipment and methods for making audiovisual presentations or productions. </li><li>Reads blueprints or schematic drawings to repair or install audiovisual equipment. </li><li>Contacts vendors to arrange for calibration or repair of equipment or to get information on equipment to recommend purchases or rental. </li><li>Proposes policies and procedures for the operation of the audiovisual unit </li><li>Maintain effective communication with users and IT colleagues regarding service requests and incident resolution. </li><li>Propose policies and procedures for technical and help desk staff as appropriate. </li><li>Maintain inventory records for technology assets. </li><li>Install and adjust specialized electronic control equipment such as those used in video switching. </li><li>Address and prioritize customer service requests ensuring they are addressed in a professional, solutions-focused approach with can-do attitude. </li><li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, vendors and partners. </li><li>Operates audiovisual equipment such as tape recorders, movie projectors or amplifiers to troubleshoot equipment or to give presentations. </li><li>Focuses on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Applicants must have (A) at least one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, technical experience in the repair and/or maintenance of audiovisual equipment including projectors, tape recorders, videotape devices, phonographic equipment, etc. or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.</p> <p>Substitutions:</p> <p>I. An Associate's or higher degree with a major in electronics or electrical engineering may be substituted for the required experience. *</p> <p>II. A diploma or certificate from a recognized trade or technical school above the high school level with a major in electronics or electricity may be substituted for the required experience.*</p> <ul> <li>Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Required at Hire in All Levels in Series:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of calibration and/or adjustment techniques used in audiovisual work. </li><li>Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (e.g., digital projectors, document cameras). </li><li>Ability to maintain accurate records. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret documents such as equipment operating manuals, specifications, and layouts. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the types and uses of audiovisual equipment such as digital projectors, document cameras, AV controllers and switchers, teleconferencing equipment. </li><li>Basic understanding of audio and video signal flow </li></ul> <p>Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as stated above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required for the responsibilities of this position.</p> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Position Status: AFSCME union position, full-time, state funded with benefits</p> <p>Hours: 37.5 per week</p> <p>Salary: $ 1,930.85 bi-weekly, ($50,202.10 annually), Grade 14 Step 1</p> <p>Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.</p> <p>Deadline to Apply: June 23, 2025</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>A cover letter and resume are required, please apply online.
